If we could move Briere, Carle & a 1st for Getlaf and Sbisa I'd be cool with that. I highly doubt that it would happen or was even talked about tho.

The problem is with a lot of this big name, big $ guys is that we simply can't fit them in with some of the contract we currently have, Briere's being the worst. I know Timonen's is about the same(bigger I think) then Brieres cap hit, but Timo provides good value where as Briere has always shit the bed in the regular season and then finally decided he wanted to play in the playoffs. Actually it isn't even that he's wanted to play, he just always drew the weakest units again him because the Flyers had Richie and Carter at C drawing the big attention. Secondly we don't have 2 big forwards to surround Briere with anymore since those types of guys play with G who already far surpassed DB in terms of everything hockey related.

All that said in order to make a big move and bring in a "star" type player Briere has to go first, I'm hoping he is only day to day after last night and Homer has the common sense to get a list of teams he would goto. If the asshole says none I'd permanently throw him in the press box until he agrees to leave or try to put him on those $125 waivers(not sure how that works). Now I know you all think I hate Briere and I do, but that isn't what drives my desire to have him gone. He was given a contract that he could never live up turn and has yet to earn that is crippling the team(same as Bryz so far). In fact the contract is more the Flyers front office's fault for panicking after 1 bad season because Carke went out and signed 3 ogres who couldn't skate to play D and they left poor Nitty out to dry all season long.

This is a young team, almost one that looks like it's 3 years into a 5 year rebuild plan, it makes sense to move out some of these big contracts in order to get not only younger but tougher. I want to them playing blue collar hockey winning board battles, clearing the porch, getting to the front of the next, standing up for one another, sacrificing their bodies to make plays(within reason) & skated hard a full 60 minutes every night so when they come off the ice they have left no doubt to themselves or the fans that they did all they could to get 2 pts. Homer needs to realize this team's time s in the next 1-3 years and they have to set themselves up for what I'm hoping is back to back cup because they easily have the talent to do so.

Pretty sure he has NMC. No waivers or trade without consent. Looks like we still have $2.7 for another move, but it will not be DB.

To me that just proves what I've thought all along, that he is a selfish player and doesn't care about doing what's right for the organization. It's not like he's losing out on money or would be asked to goto a non-contender since he could make a list of acceptable destinations.

My point is they need to do this if the expect to add an impact player during FA since they'll need that cap room with the uncertainty surrounding Prongers injury and how the league will deal with it.

Maybe moving Suter?????????????????????????????????

That'd be nice but I think they're actually pushing for the Cup. I think if Suter is moved it will be in the offseason. Nashville's D is damn good!

I really can't blame Homer for not wanting to give up that much. I give him credit. In years past he would have overpaid out the ass to get him. I think they know that this team is built for the future and built to be good for a very long time. No need to blow it up.

Kubina watch continues. Hearing offers from both Det and Philly have been made.

Adding Grossman and Kubina would be a huge victory...this team would be dangerous! Actually they are dangerous as most teams can't score with them so they become the true wildcard team right now going into the playoffs....

After seeing what the jabs got for gil I either wanna stop or trade Carle. If Gil got a solid prospect and a 2, carie might be able to get a prospect and a first. Jesus Nashville, way to ruin the deadline

No it proves Homer gives out NMC clauses like they are candy. He doesn't care at the beginning of the deal when he gives out a NTC or NMC, he'll just deal with it later.

I don't see how you can call Briere a selfish asshole. Let's look at the two other free agents we NEEDED to sign or else Homer would have been fired and our fan base would have been pissed beyond belief:

Drury - Lol
Gomez - LOL
Briere - Solid stats, stellar playoff performance, overall good guy and leader

I don't see how people can't look back and realize what could have been. Be happy with what he have. He got a contract required to land a big name center here (what everyone was bitching about that season). We did it. We made the right move.

Either of those signing would have been worse, but I call him selfish because Gomez did waive his NTC and Drury was at least logical enough to retire knowing he was injury prone and his skill set was declining. Homer does need to learn that NMC are a ting of the last and NTC should be given out only if their the limited kind(where a player names 8-10 teams he won't goto).

Briere isn't a leader in this team, a leader actually goes out there and shows his team what to do not just says they should do tho or improve in this are. He says a lot but he's been on of the worts players on the team this year in terms of bad penalties, turn overs and horrid defensive play. I'll give him credit for having 1 good playoff year for us, but everyone forget that a lot of teams were keying in onR/ Carters lines and that Leino showed up out of no where and was a puck possession beast buying DB time to make plays.

I will call him selfish since it is evident that he is not will to play the game the way Lavy wants, he's too focused on skating in circles at this stage in his career obsessing over the sweet young masculine curves of Couturier's body.

The wort part is that it seems like the front office does not realize that it's time to ask him to move on. They need to ask him where he would go in order to truly make this a team for the future since his cap hit to production just doesn't match up. I'm not looking to get into the OMG DB IS A BEAST IN THE PLAYOFFS argument again. It's just simple cap management and just like moving Richie and Carter to go that tout decisions need to be made and its time to make this one. We need to get younger and more solid on D, plus we may again have to addressing goaltending in the offseason. This team does not need aging players on the decline(timo is excluded in this because he's like a fine wine that just gets better with age).

I admit I hate Briere, dislike Pronger and am not a fan of Carle, but I've been trying to look at building this tea, like detroit has, where every year they're a threat. This may not be the most popular move with everyone but in order to take the next step and have our young players develop Briere needs to go to make more playing time for them and also to let us keep more of the nucleus together over then next 5 year.

I highly doubt they asked him to waive his NTC in November, but hey anything is a possibility. If he is doing that it makes him an even more selfish piece of shitthen I thought he was.

I just don't see why someone would waive their NMC in favor of going to a shitty place. You need to be selfish at that point. I would be a nice gesture, but when someone has a guaranteed contract and settles himself and his family in, they are here to stay.

And like I said, he is still a valuable asset to this team. He has had down years the past two seasons. Partly thanks to injury. Still don't think he is 100%. And yes, the strongest argument is he is at his best when we need him.

who said he had to go someplace shitty? I wasn't saying to ship him to CBJ, but a contender like Tor, Stl & Nashville that all need scoring help? He needs a change of scenery and to be a #1 C to get his game going on, staying in philly is the wrong thing for his career. Plus his contract is still guaranteed, it's not like he won't get paid anymore or even tank a pay cut. I honestly don't see his blue at all with Schenn, Couturier, Talbot & Read all here and able to play C, all of which are playing better then him.
