Scouts at #Flyers-#Sabres tonight include Columbus (2), Pittsburgh, Montreal, Washington, San Jose (2), Colorado, Ottawa.

I'm actually disturbed a bit that you follow Ek on twitter, I mean I enjoy my morning laugh at his stuff on hockeybuzz, but I save my twitter follows for serious hockey analysts. Especially after the whole fake pannachio account reporting we had obtain Stamkos in the off season for Briere, Carle & Bob. That was one emotional roller coaster ride I never want to experience again, it was like....

We got Stamkos AWESOME!
Carle is gone AWESOME!!
Bob is gone /sadface
Briere is gone AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Then I found out it wasn't true and I vowed if I ever found that fake pannachio I would cut off his finger, then his ears, then his tongue, then I'd cook them up with the hottest ghost chile/curry shit I could find & make him eat them. After a day or 2 of recovering in the hospital I would then kill him and sell him to one of those shady chinese food place in china town and have him delivered to Briere's house as the cream of some young guy.

I follow him knowing full well that 99% of what he says will not happen. I follow multiple people so I try to verify what he says. If I see one of the more reputable guys I follow saying something similar then usually that rumor at least has some legs.

Will they want Briere? If he is as bad as everyone on here thinks lately then why would they want him? Will they want his 6.5 million cap hit w/ three years left? Would Briere waive his NMC to go LA? Imo, Briere is one of the more difficult pieces for the Flyers to move.

I think it all comes down to if they can get Nash. Briere is struggling now, but maybe he needs a change to get back on track. However, like you said, he may not want to move across country when his kids are in school etc. Good point! I can see him waiving his NTC to teams like Buffalo, Toronto, maybe NJ, NYI, Montreal?

I think it all comes down to if they can get Nash. Briere is struggling now, but maybe he needs a change to get back on track. Cooter can move in with G. Think of the salary freed up if we can find a trading partner for Briere? Money freed up for Suter in the offseason.

LA wouldn't lose out on a d-man & they'd get a proven playoff producer, we'd get a moderate upgrade over Carle and another ticket to the lottery. I think that's a pretty damn fair trade considering LA is always active pursueing the big names in FA and they can choose to let Carle walk if they want to have more cap space. I think briere would wave to goto a contender like LA.

Also remember he played goo with richie and gagne(not sure how he's doing with returning now) on the pp.


Then we still go get Gill or Allen as rentals and we're better for this year and years to come.

In fact I'm willing to make thigs even simpler for LA and take Penner in the deal so it would look like this...

Briere, Carle, 2nd for JJ, Penner & a first.

That makes the money work on their end then we'll just flip Penner to TOR for a pick or as a part of a deal for Schenn. Either way I think it's win win.

Yeah, they want a number one forward like Nash. So essentially they are giving up a number one dman AND a 1st round pick for Briere and Carle (who is a rental). They need scoring big time. Briere is having a down year. LA would never make this deal.

You forget just how many ex-flyers staff are in the offices of LA now. I'm not saying the deal would get done but if they can't land Nash, they may take a long look at it, I could see the flyers throwing them something else in the deal if nessecary. You all can't forget Carle of available would be one of the best defensemen on the market. In that trade he'd be a stop gate until FA where I'm sure LA will be pursueing Suter like everyone else. There is only 1 Nash and he can only goto 1 team having a plan B is never a bad thing.


I did fail to mention that if Penner was included we'd have to pony up more as well. My thought is though that there's so much familiarity that Stevens may be able to say these are the guys that would fit in our system and it's worth the risk. LA has to make noise in the playoffs this year.
