Was thinking about this earlier, talking with someone else, and I wonder if the Jets would trade Evander Kane to Montreal for at least Zachary Fucale

Jets really need a young, stud goalie for the future because it's obvious that Pavelec is not the guy - and there have been a lot of rumblings about Evander Kane being traded

Maybe something along the lines of Evander Kane for Zachary Fucale, Max Pacioretty and a draft pick? Max Pac has been involved in a few rumors as well

Thoughts?

I can't see Bergevin giving up that much for Kane. I think there's a chance Kane could be traded this season though. We shall see.

Not a chance, two top 6 forwards, top 3 prospect and a first round pick for Kane. If nobody gives that price, Kane stays a Jet.

Habs giving up way too much in that trade scenario - Patches for Kane is pretty much a see-saw, not a chance the Habs should have to add much more to the deal.

I do agree that I don't think Bergevin is the type to break the bank for one player, but you never know

Unless maybe the Jets give up Big Buff or someone like that and you make it E-Kane and Buff for Fucale, Pacioretty and a pick? Maybe the Jets eat a bit of salary there?

Nobody is giving up two top six forwards for him, and yeah he'll stay a Jet if nobody offers that but that doesn't mean he's worth that - I don't think he's worth all that much unless the Jets are adding to the deal

Have I missed a scouting report on Fucale or something? Why is he being so highly regarded?

I think the Habs are looking for somebody to step in for an aging Andrei Markov and Buff could fill that void, but they probably have hopes that Jared Tinordi could also be that guy down the road.

/I do think the Jets need to do something (big trade, coaching change etc.) in order to get that team over the hump.

Zero GMs are gonna give that much up for Kane.

Never know, Rangers did it for Nash...

Yes now you all will probably bash me and Sather and the Rangers, but he did give that up. You need to give to get and especially for a young talented top guy like Kane.

P.s you all know i'm a biased Kane fan ;)

One of the Habs higher picks, he's been the starting goalie for Team Canada the last few games and has played very well for them, especially today - he's most likely going to be road blocked by Price too

He was a 2nd round pick in the 2013 draft. I still can't help, but laugh because the Oilers tried to move up & get him & failed.

And Glen Sather is going to regret that Rick Nash trade, it has not helped the Rangers

Evander Kane might be a really good individual player but he's really not worth giving up all that much for him, he's just not - you don't win in this league by trading 3 or 4 pieces for one guy, unless he's a generational talent at that position or the LAST piece to the puzzle(Chris Pronger trade to the Flyers for example) - most teams who will make a trade for Evander Kane will be teams who aren't ONE piece away from winning it all - only teams who are one piece away from winning it all should consider it

You could argue that the Rangers took a step back in the Rick Nash deal - people thought that was the final piece, but moving Anisimov and Dubinsky now has them searching for that type of player again

For example, imo here are the teams that are either already there or just one piece away from being a Cup team:

Blackhawks, Kings, Ducks, Canucks, Penguins, Bruins, Sharks and Blues

Those are the teams that I feel are either already there or just need one more piece to get over the top, those are the teams that should try and make a move for him - any team that is at least 2 or 3 pieces away from being a Cup team, they shouldn't give up all that just for Evander Kane

The Rangers gave up a bit, but Nash is a bit of a more established player. I don't think that a four for one deal would happen. I could see a top 6 F, top 3 prospect and mid round pick. Or lesser prospect and first rounder.

BTW, there was an article in the Winnipeg Free Press about Mr. Kane (and Ladd/Wheeler) regarding the Pens and Jets hooking up for a trade. Said that the trade would have to start with Maatta, even though the author then noted that Maatta is untouchable. I'd kill for Kane, he's got a cap friendly deal.

I'm sure you wouldn't want them to give up Olli Maatta though, right?

I just feel like for the Jets, if they're going to make a move involving E-Kane, I'd be looking to find a goaltender - I wouldn't go E-Kane for goalie straight up but I'd be looking for a potential stud number one somewhere

It depends on what Cheveldayoff wants for Kane. Would he want established talent or prospects or picks. The Jets are playing pretty well right now. I think something similar to what Ottawa gave up to get Bobby Ryan would be something Kevin would consider.

The Pens have some good goalie depth...but no studs, and NO I would not trade Maatta. Young controllable, puck moving dman?
