I was most curious to see how Cousins/Davis work out, but now that I hear Ben McLemore will be playing some small ball 4, I really have to see what lineups the Kings are going to put out there.

At 6'5, 195? Randive needs to sell that team to someone with a clue.

If the C's give up Crowder in a package to get Butler...

1.) Are they a better team? Yes.
2.) Do they beat Cleveland this year? Probably not.

I can understand why both teams might stick to their guns here... and why a deal might not get done.

Is there anyplace either Butler or George might end up other than Boston? I haven't heard either tied to any other team... nor do I think any other team could offer enough in return to tempt Chicago or Indiana.

I guess that could be an interesting dynamic here. Do either Chicago or Indiana worry that if they don't make the deal first... Boston might go with the other team and leave them stuck in the no-man's-land of the NBA?... (good enough to make the playoffs, not good enough to compete for a championship)

There's an unverified rumor of a 3-team deal where Boston gets PG13, Philly gets Avery Bradley, Indiana gets Okafor/Jaylen/Zeller/1st round

That could be a winner. But I'm guessing the 1st rounder is NOT one of the Nets picks. (I think giving up Bradley/Brown/Nets 1st rounder is too much.)

Sell high on IT.

it's their defense that's the biggest issue.

Eh... not gonna happen.

I recognize IT has some shortcomings (heh heh)... but he has become a team leader and fan favorite. Dude isn't going anywhere.

Whose? The C's?

If they are healthy... the C's have a good to very good defensive team. The problem is their rebounding.

They've had guys injured all through the year. If the Bradleys and Crowders and Horfords of the line-up are actually in there playing night in and night out... the C's can field a good defense.

Smart, Bradley and Crowder are some of the best defenders in the league at their positions.

Heard on WEEI this afternoon that Magic is talking to Bird about finding a way to get PG. Problem is that the Lakers won't/can't give up enough to make a straight deal. Sounds like future draft picks but will trading George to the Lakers make them good enough to send that pick into the 20's??

They were also reporting that Ainge immediately called Bird when the word got out that Indiana was "testing" the water. I think Ainge will include Crowder for George.

I agree that Celtics overall are solid defensive team.

But IT is really bad. ESPN has stat that is "RPM: Player's estimated on-court impact on team defensive performance, measured in points allowed per 100 defensive possessions".

It ranks all 450 NBA players -- defensive ranking. Through 449 players -- rankings range from 5.22 (Rudy Gobert, Dreymond is #2, then Bogut) to -3.39. (negative is worse)

IT is -4.40 ... i.e., a lot worse than the next player.

It is hard to quantify defense -- but according to this stat, IT is really bad.
