Seems about right. Wish Miller had made it though.

A tip of the cap to those 3....but it's a crime Billy Martin and Tommy John still aren't in.

smh

Are you putting John in as a player or as a pioneer? Because if it's as a player, it's not a crime whatsoever. His playing career doesn't merit enshrinement by any stretch of the imagination. He was never dominant. His longevity is to be commended but doesn't make him HOF worthy. His career numbers are unimpressive and he was rarely among the top pitchers in his league.

meh...65% the latter...35% the former....

Tommy John - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thomas Edward John Jr. (born May 22, 1943) is a former pitcher in Major League Baseball whose 288 career victories rank as the seventh highest total among left-handers in major league history. He is also known for the revolutionary surgery, now named after him, which was performed on a damaged ligament in his pitching arm.[1] Well over half of John's career wins came after his surgery.

Yeah, I wouldn't be upset if the HOF put John. I'm a big hall guy and a guy like John was among the top 2% of all players to ever play professional baseball. Smarther's comment that John's career was "unimpressive" is not expressed well. John's numbers might not compare very well with most HOF pitchers (although they are better than some) but his numbers are very impressive. He was consistent and avg about 210ip and 3.5 WAR for his 21 healthy seasons, which is pretty remarkable. And he had a really nice 16 year peak where he threw 3400 innings with a 119 ERA+, which is more or less Andy Pettitte's career in a few lesser seasons.

If you go on the numbers alone, they belong in the HOF.

Playing Devil's Advocate....

Cox had the best three pitchers on one staff in the 90's, won all the pennants, but only one World Series.

Torre didn't do squat as a manager until her entered the world of the Deep Pocket George Steinbrenner, and the PED era.

Larussa has all the PED claims on every team he managed. Both Torre and Larussa looked the other way when all the Bashing was going on.

Not saying that they don't deserve it. I would put Torre and Larussa in for their team's accomplishments. Cox not so much. A decade of futility towards the final goal.
