The home runs yes, but the strikeouts you have to look at the time that each one played.
Don Sutton set the record in the mid eighties for consecutive seasons with 100 strikeouts at 18 or 19. There were only a few pitchers that could bring a 95 MPH fastball in Banks era.
Having said all that Jeter did strikeout more than he should.
he was still well under the MLB average though... he is only knocked for SOs because of his longevity... he had 100 or more SOs 9 times in his career... thats not that bad for the era he played in...
For his career he had a 14.6% SO rate while the MLB rate was 17.5...
he actually NEVER struck out at a rate worse than the MLB average of 17.5
