Oh for crying out loud. Just because the NCAA has a method that is all based on records does not mean that that is how Athlon's list is comprised.

How about you use a little bit of common sense. Given that no games have been played this year, the ONLY thing that that list can be based on is an estimate of how last year's results might inform speculation as to who will be good this year. Even if the Athlon's list is based on a poll, it is still based on opinions. But mostly, I think it is just clickbait.

I think Phil Steele is one of the more accurate(if not the best) polls but Athlon does better than ESPN or AP.

USC plays Alabama , Stanford and Utah in it's first four games and none of those three at home . They play Utah State at home in the first four. Utah State beat a ranked Boise State last year.
Oklahoma plays all but one of it's first four at home.

I didn't realize Houston was neutral and I didn't say TCU was at home. It's still not a tougher start to the season than USC IMO.
And an over all stronger schedule especially when you realize SC plays Oregon. Washington, UCLA and Notre Dame to end the season,

I don't know where it's being played I just looked at the schedule on E *PN and it says its a neutral site game.
