Told you I hadn’t looked LOL. I can agree with this. Sort of supports my Mahomes over Brady argument (Brady has more stats due to lots more games played, Mahomes does more things better)Not to derail the thread, but if we're taking both blocking and receiving into the equation, Gronk is easily the best TE ever. There might not even be a close second, as he was basically a bigger, faster Mike Ditka.
Gronk was the Randy Moss of receiving TEs and was like having an extra offensive tackle in the running game.
Gonzalez has the cumulative stats, but he played in a lot more games than Gronk. Gronk has him beat in both yards and TDs per game.
One of them played with Tom Brady their whole career and the other didnt.Gonzalez has the cumulative stats, but he played in a lot more games than Gronk. Gronk has him beat in both yards and TDs per game.
I legit don’t know if it is actually against the rules or not. It is just a really bad look for a guy who is known as one of the greatest defensive catchers ever to be using stickum (or whatever the substance is). Seeing as they are super struck about exactly how muck tar can be on a bat, I would imagine having Eriq La Salle level goop on your equipment probably isn’t kosher.cheating
Although there are some people who argue against that
Come on guys, take it to the Politics boardTold you I hadn’t looked LOL. I can agree with this. Sort of supports my Mahomes over Brady argument (Brady has more stats due to lots more games played, Mahomes does more things better)

On the Dick Vermeil Chiefs, they were a run first team. Tony G simply clearing out the LB into coverage allowed Priest Holmes to live in the endzone. Larry Johnson, too. Tony G didnt need to block and the Chiefs had a dominant run offense
Technically he is (other). But he has never received any love when he has been on, so he is just in the rotation at this point. I agree that he probably deserves more love, though. One quibble here shouldn’t Pujols be on the nomination list every time like some of these others?
Elvis Grbac was kind of a scrub.Of course, but people can make the same argument for Jerry Rice playing most of his career with Montana and Young.
Like with Rice, it can be used to diminish Gronk's greatness only so much.
In terms of QBs, Gonzalez had it pretty rough during his last few years with the Chiefs, but overall, it's not like Elvis Grbac, Trent Green and Matt Ryan with the Falcons were scrubs.
Gonzalez was asked to block a lot with as much as the Chiefs ran the ball. He just wasn't particularly great at it. He was a better blocker than Deion Sanders was a tackler, for example, but it was never anywhere close to a strength of his.
Saying that, it never really needed to be as the Chiefs usually had great offensive lines.
Gonzalez was a great receiver. There's no doubt about that, but he wasn't the physical mismatch that Gronk presented.
Between the two of them in their prime for one season, I'm taking Gronk, but that's me.
Ok consider this my request. I’m not wasting one of my 3 nominations on it though.Technically he is (other). But he has never received any love when he has been on, so he is just in the rotation at this point. I agree that he probably deserves more love, though.
if anyone thinks someone should be on the list, by all means mention him. Or nominate him in the Other category, as that will guarantee he gets a slot in the next poll, regardless.
I am not horribly concerned with making the 35 (34 with “Other”) the actual top 35 names still available. If a player hasn’t been nominated by anyone yet, there is practically no chance he will win the next spot. I cycle new names just to keep borderline guys in the minds of voters for further down the line.Ok consider this my request. I’m not wasting one of my 3 nominations on it though.
I’m one of the Ohtani voters. I know it’s a little inconsistent to vote for someone who hasn’t had a full dominant career yet but to me he’s that special and different and this isn’t scientific.
I also have been on the NFL boards saying Mahomes is GOAT over Brady. People are telling me it’s too soon but I saw both with my own eyes and Mahomes is better at playing the position so he has my vote.
Ok I’m just asking to add Pujols permanently but won’t lose sleep if you don’tI am not horribly concerned with making the 35 (34 with “Other”) the actual top 35 names still available. But honestly, missing guys like Speaker and Spahn worried me that there is SOMEONE out there we just aren’t thinking of. What if we don’t remember him before “his spot” comes up. Never listing Campanella at all is a much bigger “sin” than not listing Pujols every time.
The sport has been around forever so that’s what we gotta doYea. Kind of ironic that we are voting for the 9th right now and 7 of the players most of us never saw. Or if we did see them we were young lads and don’t remember them.
But yet current players who we have seen are all magically worse than players we haven’t seen.
The sport has been around forever so that’s what we gotta do
“Windows 98 does more things better.”Today’s players would play circles around the players of yesteryear if everyone plays “as themselves”.
Would a fat fuck Babe Ruth, who drank every night be able to compete with a Juan Soto who grew up eating, drinking, sleeping, shitting, playing, living the game? Not a chance. But Babe planted the seeds that allowed Soto to follow his life’s passion. And it created the systems that blossomed over the generations into perfecting the mechanics of the game that Soto was able to utilize.
Windows 98 doesn’t compare with Windows11, but there is no question that 11 doesn’t exist without 98.
I don’t punish players we’ve seen. I’m the one voting for Ohtani lol. Most of us don’t punish recent players if anything we downgrade the ones from the beginning like Wagner and YoungSure. But don’t you think it is weird that we kind of punish the players we have seen. And we buy into every legend story of past players??
