Runoff for #2…
I SAW Barry play for years, and it is hard to imagine anyone dominating the game to the degree that he did. But then I hear (and have heard my whole life) how everyone who saw Mays play came away with the same opinion. And he had the all-time great D to go along with everything else. Bonds was solid defensively early in his career, but he became a statue out there later, and I can’t help but detract him for that. Those years were a LOT of why he is so high on the list, so you can’t just toss that performance the way you can with Rickey’s late-years where he was just hanging out after his legacy was already written.I'm sticking with Mays but some of the posts in the debates here have made me shift my thinking towards Bonds...
Like I keep saying, there's no way to definitively rank these guys so specifically. Too many variables. But the fun is the debate.
I suspect he will be in the runoff vote for #3Picked Mays over Bonds but still prefer Teddy Ballgame.
Just because people praise Bonds does not make them “Bay Area loving fellas”. Only a couple of the participants in these polls are “Giants fans”, and these tend to support Mays over Bonds anyway.I appreciate the Bay Area loving fellas, but Bonds did use the gas. Which, to me, disqualifies him from any GOAT conversation. Even if he might have gotten there without it.
I actually am looking forward to the lower levels of this thing. I think the debates can get real fun at the 6, 7, 8 range.Number 3 should be fun.

You are absolutely allowed to have your opinion. But other people don’t have to share your opinion. That’s why we have a poll to get an idea where the board sits on the topic.i still think it is Bullshit that this is even a question... if Bonds does not win the 2nd best player, then he shouldnt be top 10... if he is voted anywhere 3-10, then this list has lost all legitimacy
He used amphetamines.Mays. No roids. No cheating
Yeah I said the same thing, I guess the thought was pitching is why Ruth is #1, and why Ohtani is in the mix. But it'd be more interesting to do hitters only and pitchers only, since combining them only matters for 2 peopleits also very hard to compare pitching and offense... not sure how and where we will set that line at.... at pitchers i think are harder to compare between eras than hitters...
