I think Ramos gets the nod for the 8th spot anyways. Based on versatility. (long relief, short relief, situational, etc)

I agree. He might even start game 5 if they want to wait a start for AJ

This may mean Chris G to the MILB DL and moves Brett N up the depth charts. I know this guy has raked offensively this spring but not sure of his defensive tools. Has to have been better then the other potential backups. Also heard Astros wanted him. No favors via Ausmus

Rangers' Bryan Holaday: Traded to Rangers

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Bryan Holaday was traded to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday in exchange for Bobby Wilson and Myles Jaye.

With Chris Gimenez down with an infection in his ankle, Holaday was brought in to shore up the Rangers' depth behind the plate. Holaday has put together a strong spring, going 14-for-32 (.438 average) with four homers and just two strikeouts, but he's a .251/.283/.340 career hitter at the major league level. Look for him to see only a couple starts per week behind Robinson Chirinos.

Looks like we have seen the last of Sam for awhile anyway

Rangers' Sam Freeman: Designated for assignment

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Sam Freeman was designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday.

A spot on the 40-man roster had to be freed up with Bryan Holaday coming aboard from Detroit, and Freeman was the casualty. Freeman made 54 appearances last season in his first year with the Rangers, posting a 3.05 ERA despite a walk rate pushing 15 percent. He misses bats and induces groundballs at an above-average clip, so another team may be willing to take a flier on Freeman.

Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Earns spot in bullpen
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Andrew Faulkner will be on the Opening Day roster, Jeff Worth of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

A former 14th-round draft pick, the 23-year-old Faulkner struggled as a starter for Double-A Frisco last season, but he quickly moved up the organizational ladder after moving to the bullpen. He had 13 strikeouts in eight scoreless innings for Triple-A Round Rock, then put up 10 strikeouts and a 2.79 ERA in 9.2 innings with the Texas Rangers . Though he he clearly has late-inning potential, Faulker may find that it's tough to climb the ladder in a solid Texas bullpen. He could, however, replace Jake Diekman as the top left-handed option.

That last line is interesting

Rangers acquire W.T. White's Bryan Holaday to be backup catcher | SportsDay

"Holaday comes highly recommended by our scouts and everyone he's played with and for," said general manager Jon Daniels. "We think he's a good fit for our roster and our clubhouse. He's an athletic catcher with the kind of makeup and work ethic you want."

Holaday caught only 24 games in the majors in 2015, but did appear in 62 games (42 starts) for the Tigers in 2014. He is a career .251 hitter with a .622 OPS in 259 games. He is considered a better thrower than either Gimenez or Michael McKenry, who is still in camp on a minor league deal. Over the last two seasons, he's thrown out 16 of 49 (32.6 percent) attempted base-stealers. In the same time, Gimenez has caught just two of 31 runners; McKenry just seven of 71.

Holaday also bought a house in Fort Worth over the winter, according to Jeff Wilson. He's excited about being here.
