He could, however, replace Jake Diekman as the top left-handed option.

That last line is interesting

Interesting for sure. But do you think it's accurate? For me, I liked what I saw outta Diekman last year.

Both David Price and Justin Verlander, the two highest profile pitchers during Holaday's time in DET, loved throwing to him.

Most important thing I read about him.

Matt Garza & Ryan Dempster say hello.

Dempster, I was on the fence about at the time. Hindsight is 50/50, so the Rangers would have been better not making the deal, but I certainly wouldn't call it anywhere close to a blunder.

Garza was the right deal to make at that time, and I still feel that way.

They will compete and the better performer will win the job IMO. I don't think any player is going to be guaranteed a spot with Banny. YOY it should be the guy thats performing the best at the time and that should be fluid I would think? Then again they may have a totally different view, what the heck do I know. HAHA!

I thought Diek performed well down the stretch though, if I didnt answer the question

I can see Brad Wilkerson waving this way also and that looks like John Danks behind him. And there is Christian Guzman as well. Chris Davis and Tommy Hunter send their best wishes.

Of course there are a ton of good moves to more than offset those clunkers.

Rangers' Nick Martinez: Optioned to the minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Nick Martinez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock, all but ensuring AJ Griffin will begin the year in the Texas rotation.

Martinez figures to be a rotation option should injuries hit the major-league staff, but his pedestrian peripherals throughout his major-league career (154 K, 101 walks in 265.1 IP) don't bode well for any long-term success.

Rangers' A.J. Griffin: Expected to make rotation
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
A.J. Griffin hasn't been told he'll begin the year in the Texas rotation, though it's widely expected that he will following the demotion of Nick Martinez according to T.R Sullivan of MLB.com.

Griffin pitched poorly Tuesday following Martinez's demotion, allowing seven hits and five runs in 3.2 innings but did manage to fan six.

Rangers' Andrew Faulkner: Earns spot in bullpen
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Andrew Faulkner will be on the Opening Day roster, Jeff Worth of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

A former 14th-round draft pick, the 23-year-old Faulkner struggled as a starter for Double-A Frisco last season, but he quickly moved up the organizational ladder after moving to the bullpen. He had 13 strikeouts in eight scoreless innings for Triple-A Round Rock, then put up 10 strikeouts and a 2.79 ERA in 9.2 innings with the Texas Rangers . Though he he clearly has late-inning potential, Faulker may find that it's tough to climb the ladder in a solid Texas bullpen. He could, however, replace Jake Diekman as the top left-handed option.

That last line is interesting
Yes, he could. He appears to have a very good future.

That's funny, I felt the opposite. I was all for the Dempster trade, but was really against the Garza trade at the time.
