I've been pointing out, if not harping, on how important DeShields was to our offensive last season-- . But it sure seems like some of ya are anxious to send him packing.

How hard is it to replace a LO hitter who scores almost 50% of the time he gets on base, and causes total chaos on the base-paths?

There's a lot of talent on this squad. Pretty impressive to see both our AA & AAA have some big league players in waiting.

OK then, please point out which players you wouldn't replace if it improved the team? ha ha

Frankly, I'd be surprised if DeShields didn't take a step backwards, offensively, from what he did last year, in all candor.

Of course Griffin is getting lit up today.

I wonder who starts games 2, 3 and 4? Last year they saved Derek for the home opener, but that doesn't come into play this year. Derek started yesterday in front of Griffin in the rotation, but surely that doesn't mean he will start game 4.

Freeman didn't do anything to help his cause today. Although, that 8th bullpen spot is probably only going to last 4 days anyway I would think. He gives up 2 walks and a single in 1.1 innings.

Elvis has quietly put together a solid ST. A very good average and the top OBP of any regular. He does have just one extra base hit though and the same amount of steals to this point. The one extra base hit is a double he hit today.

I think Ramos gets the nod for the 8th spot anyways. Based on versatility. (long relief, short relief, situational, etc)
