Do you think you feel that way because it is impossible at this time to figure out who they could have taken with that pick and what that player will become or do you think you feel that way because you believe that generally the 19th pick doesn't pan out?

Neither, I just don't think the price of paying that pick mattered in making a decision between Jackson or Desmond, that's all

Oh, I misunderstood you. You meant the $2.5 million. No, I don't think anyone thought they made the trade just to keep from paying a draft pick.

Well i like his attitude, and he seems to be a high character guy. I think it is going to be a real good clubhouse atmosphere, if that helps you win baseball games

Oh that's what your post I quoted seemed to imply to me, if not then simple misunderstanding

What is the $ difference in the pick we lose for Desmond and the pick we received for Gallardo? I believe we lose the 19th and get the 30th? While there are 11 picks or so difference, is the $ that much different? Its still a 1st round comp pick correct? Did the article take that $ into consideration? I didnt read much of it, guess I can do that. Just seemed a silly point addressing budgetary assumptions for draft pick slot

By Steve Adams | February 29, 2016 at 10:35am CST

10:35am: Murphy’s minor league deal contains a $2MM base salary, should he make the big league roster, according to the Boston Globe’s Alex Speier (Twitter link).

9:55am: The Red Sox and free agent outfielder David Murphy are in agreement on a minor league contract, reports ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick (on Twitter). The Moye Sports Associates client will return to the organization that drafted him with the 17th overall pick in the 2003 draft.

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Feels pain-free after first bullpen session

Yu Darvish (elbow) said that he felt pain-free after his first bullpen session off of a mound Monday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Darvish had just graduated to throwing off of a mini-mound last week, and apparently felt well enough to advance even further in his rehabilitation process. The fact that he is pain-free right now is great news, and should help him continue being on track for his projected return date sometime in May.

The only time I have seen the money that was slotted for the draft pick mentioned it was in saying that the overall extra cash outlay will be $5.5 million when you take both what Desmond signed for and the money they won't be spending on the draft pick in consideration.
