Way back when nobody could beat a liquored up Kerry Collins, Kininjana Carter and Penn State. They got mother fucking screwed. Would have whooped Nebraska's asses in a championship.

Went to my first college football game in 1955. USC in the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Holy crap. You really are The Oldtimer.

That's 13 years Before UCF was UCFounded.

17 years before UCF held its UCFirst class
.
And 41 years before UCFootball joined FBS.

1st game I remember watching was the Rose Bowl. Circa 62 or 63. USC vs Wisconsin. Enrolled at UW in the fall of 69

That's 34 years without UCFootball in FBS. About the same year that UCF was just an idea to help NASA. Back then our name was FTU. Some people still like Florida Technical University more than University of Central Florida.

Personally I think we should have gone with University of Florida Orlando. So our abbreviated name would be our mascot, UFO

I always wondered why the State of Florida didn't have more D1 schools that were really good, like 20 of them, seriously.

As the story goes, most Florida was very lightly inhabited before Central air conditioning.

Orlando for example was just orange groves before Disney World in 1971.

There was little need for Universities before then. No Florida was really relevant until the 1980s. That's like 90 years after most FBS schools started playing football

I'll post my answer in the form of a statement:

I have never watched Michigan beat Ohio State in Columbus and have only seen two wins against the Buckeyes in person.

Cyclicality is a funny thing. I remember when Cooper would’ve had a good shot at a minimum of 2 NCs had he been able to beat at best mediocre UM teams under Carr.

Bear Bryant saw it coming. During the mid-late 70s, he said the next SEC dynasty likely would be Florida.

My only hope is that Day suffers from the Cooper syndrome.

21 years - like the number of years living before you're legally allowed to drink, of cfb for you before UCFootball joined FBS

#UCFacts

The law was different in the 80s. I was among the last group who could legally drink at 19.

I remember when McCoy Jetport in Orlando only had 3 airlines that flew in there: Delta, Eastern and Southern! In the mid '70s, there was spirited debate in the Orlando City Council on whether to approve the airport expansion or not. lol. It was obviously approved!

I get a little joy that something I said almost 7 years ago, still just digs so deep in the soul of Oregon fans.
