They came very close to beating Minnesota.

Yeah, I was there.

Mn wasn't prepared for their stunts and were determined to win by running the inside zone almost exclusively.

But the old saying about almost.......

9-0 in championship games in FCS and winning 9 out of past 11 years, has any D1 team been as dominant ever?

Do you think that would even be possible? FCS is basically a minor league, it is not the pinnacle of college football achievement, when some of NDSU's recruiting targets choose instead to walk on at Minnesota or Nebraska or Iowa or Boise St, etc., than to get a scholarship at NDSU, that should tell you something. Not trying to take away from what NDSU has accomplished, just putting it into perspective. What Alabama has accomplished recently has to be considered more impressive. You enjoy bragging about beating Minnesota during a time when UMn was struggling and that's fine, but what UMn accomplished under Bernie Bierman is also more impressive when you consider all of the circumstances.

ALL of the most impressive dynasties if you compare all levels of collegiate sports equally, are found at the lower levels, for the most part. There are a few exceptions, like UConn Women's BB, but for the most part this is true, and there is a reason for this.

They are doing this with less scholarships available compared to the FBS level teams too. The fact that they have beat FBS teams like Iowa ranked top 10-12 the time they beat them and winning at Kansas state are big wins. That’s impressive while never losing a title game and going 9/11 years while having to actually win through a playoff system rather than having the semis handed to them by selection.

So NDSU gets less scholarships then their fellow FCS opponents? Never said what they've accomplished isn't impressive, I work with multiple NDSU grads, and as a Gopher fan am well aware of the program and have brought up the wins over Iowa and KSU to others as well. Was one of the most disappointed people out there regarding the Oregon vs NDSU game being canceled in 2020. Just pointing out that winning 9 Titles in 11 years is basically ONLY possible at lower levels of college competition these days. Even UConn's women's bb, who needed 15 years to win 9 Titles, so not comparable, could be argued is a lower level seeing as there is so much less money involved in women's bb than in men's bb or college football. When was the last time something similar has happened in cfb or cbb? Only once in either sport, since the beginning of the 20th Century at least, and that was UCLA bb, that never got punished for it, but we all know they were cheating as many of the players have admitted publicly. Men's hockey's best run since the NCAA tourney started is the 10 straight Frozen Fours by Michigan, with 6 Titles and 1 runner up. Best any Baseball program has done is USC's winning 6 Titles in 7 seasons or 8 Titles in 14 years, and sort of like Michigan's hockey titles, you gotta go back between 4-7 decades to see any of these Titles being won.

The only places you find similar runs is in Div 2 or 3 or NAIA level sports or maybe the earliest days of some Div 1 women's sports. Again, not trying to diminish NDSU's accomplishment, it's still in our favorite sport and I'll be the first to say NDSU could compete and do well in some of the P5 Conferences. Heck, they could be a legit target in the Big 12's next expansion? The SEC and the B1G are the only two conferences NDSU might not immediately be able to be competitive in. With a couple years with full FBS scholarship capability, NDSU could possibly compete with the Wisconsins and Auburns of those two conferences and finish in the #5-#15 range regularly.
