Meh, looked like a pretty clean hit to me (might have left his feet a little). I hate the fact that guys have to fight after delivering a solid body check (it never used to be that way, you'd seek retribution with a clean hit of your own later in the game).

/Keep your head up, kid.

I tend to agree. But I don't mind so long as an instigator penalty is assessed. That is the reason why I always have been and always will be an advocate to keep that rule. Anyone know if he was given one here?

Also this is an ongoing discussion on the Q boards. A lot of people seem to think there is some unwritten code that 18 and 19 year olds shouldn't be hitting or fighting 16 year olds. Can you really expect players to memorize the dates of birth of every other player in the league? I mean they are in the league so they are fair game are they not? I'm not disagreeing with this guys decision to fight him as it's probably good for team unity and that stuff, but not because the guy he jumped needed to be punished.

to me it comes down to how you play, no matter what your age is. 16 and 17 year olds are generally getting their feet wet in the league, so tend not to start shit anyways. If they are running around acting like an enforcer, they should be treated as such.
As for hitting, everyone is and should be fair game.

oh yes, and I wouldn't have an issue with Pelech getting an instigator from the video above, but still think he did the right thing.

Pelech got 17 minutes of penalties on that play (2, 5, 10) and Sieloff got nothing. Great call by the zebras.

Tigers lose 4-2 to the Oil Kings tonight (Lanigan between the pipes, apparently played quite well), Giants losing 5-1 to the Hitmen after two periods.

Yep. I have no problem with it though & from what I understand his teammates were fine with it too. Erie is a very young team in a complete rebuild. If guys are going to take liberties on their youngsters somebody has to let the other team know they aren't going to get away with it.

Sieloff is known as a hitter. It was his trademark so to speak in the USHL last year. I think the Flames might have gotten a good player in the 2nd round. The big question on Sieloff will be whether or not going for the big hit puts him out of position too much. He has plenty of time to develop & plays for a team that is ususally very good year in year out, which will certainly help.

Just read in the Friedman 30 thoughts article that Schiefele is off to a good start with his junior team (tied for the scoring lead in the OHL).

Barrie has 3 of the top 6 scorers in the OHL at the moment. They also sit in 1st place of their division.

I'm liking what I'm seeing from Andrey Pedan 4G 6A 10pts +3 with 40PIMs in 12 games.

Blazers are 12-0-0-1 after 13 games. They also have the top 4 point-getters in the Dub.
They haven't looked this good since the days of Iggy and Doan.

Tigers beat Kelowna 4-3 in a shootout tonight despite being outshot 58-28. Yes, newly acquired goalie Cam Lanigan was between the pipes for Medicine Hat.

Finally the Giants dominate someone. 4-1 over Victoria, shots 33-13.
Seems like they finally remembered that the Royals are really only the Chilliwack Chiefs in different sweaters.

the kid was in net for the win.
