Corrado looks like a solid player. I know Gaunce was their 1st round pick in 2012, but I haven't seen him play so I don't know.

Corrado's skating is absolutely something else. I'm really looking forward to watching him develop.
Mattola and I watched the state of the franchise address in the summer, and they had some prospects running drills before hand. Every single time there was a "did you see that?" moment, it was Corrado. Was happy to see him against the Russians, as I don't get much of a chance to watch OHL.
18 points in 24 games - next highest d-man on that team has 5 points.

Gaunce got hurt (shoulder), so he has missed about half of the season. Otherwise he would have been in the Subway Series as well. He was named as their captain, as an 18 year old. 11 points in 14 games, pretty reasonable.
Again, I haven't seen much of his play live at all. Reminds me a bit of a Linden style player (big forward, decent skills augmented by a great work ethic)

If there's a season it's goiing to be interesting to see what the teams with high expectations do with a shortened year. Do you think the Canucks would go all in for the cup & sacrifice some of their prospects to do so? Jensen is another good prospect for the Canucks. The cupboard is far from bare.

it all depends on what Luongo fetches. that could change our team significantly.
all things being equal, I would assume they would go for it. The window is closing with this group, and a short season could actually be a benefit. Just enough time to get the team rolling together, but not a long enough grind for wear-and-tear-type injuries to kick in.

Apparently this is what the CHLPA posted: :L

CHLPA @theCHLPA
Wonder how nevous Patrick Roy is feeling today, among other team owners, coachs' and GM's? Maybe a Some of them should start packing up.

What a joke the CHLPA is, not that we didn't know that already. 1st they complain that players aren't being paid enough, now they make smart-ass comments about teams that allegedly pay players too much. I realize their goal is to have rules changed in the players' favour as opposed to having certain teams break the rules in the players' favour, but it still seems a bit hypocritical and a very unprofessional comment to tweet. Very few teams in the Q can afford to pay out as much in perks as Quebec so they should take what they can (allegedly) get and keep their mouths shut.

Meant to post this in the thread about paying CHL players. :L

Shots on goal with about 5 minutes left in the 2nd period: 23-6 in favour of Moose Jaw

Only caught the 3rd period, but it appears that Morgan Reilly is a pretty big step above everyone else.
MooseJaw pulls ahead with about 5m left. Reilly blows past everyone and scores on his own rebound
tough to blame the goalie on this one, 2 goals on 30+ shots.

also, it is difficult to watch in low definition

Leafs may have a very good one in Rielly down the road...It's a shame 210 won't let him near the stereo in the dressing room.

OT: WHL BAN HAMMER

was delivered by Thor apparentley.

WOW

Junior hockey team, coach/GM slammed for violations

Winterhawks general manager and head coach Mike Johnston is suspended for the rest of the season and playoffs and the team has been fined $200,000. Travis Green will take over as coach.
The WHL says the disciplinary action is a result of a series of player benefit violations that occurred over the past four seasons.
WHL Commissioner Ron Robison is also suspending the team from participating in the first five rounds of the 2013 WHL bantam draft.
The Winterhawks also forfeit their first-round selections in the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 WHL bantam drafts. Should the first-round selection in 2014 not be available because of a conditional trade, Portland will surrender its second- and third-round picks in that year's draft.

Just thought I'd merge your thread with this one, matty (also being discussed in the paying CHL players thread).

As julian and destroy alluded to in the other thread, I think there is significantly more to this story than what has been publicized. This is close to the SMU death penalty.

Tigers break and ugly eight game winless streak with a win over Lethbridge last night - Shinkaruk is back in the lineup after missing a few games with a skate cut on his leg.
