I also dig the fact that Flames prospect Laurent Broissoit stopped Oilers 1st overall draft pick Nail Yakupov in the shootout. Calgary beating Edmonton again, it never gets old.

:heh:

Broissoit was really solid in that game. very composed.
You've got to be thrilled with him and Brust (3 consecutive shutouts now, I think)

Giants update: Still no goalie, and now the leading scorer is done for the year (blood clot)
VancouverGiants are told by doctors that leading scoring Marek Tvrdon is out for season with health issue. Statement expected later.

Is Sam Reinhart the favorite to go 1st overall in 2014?

Not sure about favourite, but he's probably in the top 10. Pretty slick shootout move for a 17 year old last night at the Pacific Coliseum.

/Flames have Max, they should try to land his younger brother Sam...

I have a feeling the Isles will be in a better position to draft their second Reinhart than Calgary. Granted I'm just going by the current rosters & the fact I don't think Wang is going to spend money until the lease is up on the NVMC.

I hope I'm wrong though. This offseason could be UNBELIEVABLE from an UFA standpoint.

Sounds like Brossoit is starting again tonight for the Dub in the final game of the Subway Super Series in Victoria. Also Flames prospect Tyler Wotherspoon (currently toiling with the Portland Winterhawks) also draws in tonight.

/Maybe the Flames cupboard isn't quite as bare as all the pundits keep telling me...

On that note, here are the latest ISS Rankings:

ISS Draft Rankings (November 2012)

Barkov is apparently kicking butt in the Finnish league. He'll be fun to watch at the World Jr's. One of the youngest players eligible in the entire draft. I liked what I saw from Shinkaruk in the 1st game for the Dub.

I don't think the WHL had enough offense in game 2. They missed Reinhart & Shinkaruk a lot. I liked what I saw from Griffen Reinhart though.

defense was so much worse in game 2 (not just d-men, but team defense). No booming hits, Russia had so much more space. That 2-0 goal was a 1 on 3 rush, and everyone just kept backing in. ug-ly.
Rattie (STL) looked pretty good, Broissot fell back to earth, good to see Lowe stink. Reilly was strong again, too. I liked the double toe-drag in the 3rd.
for the amount of talent out there, the powerplay was just awful. Russians were very active against it though. full marks to them.

Pats and Giants getting the Sportsnet treatment tonight...Flames prospect Brett Kulak (4th round pick in the 2012 draft) manning the blue line for Vancouver.

uhhhh, so we are in the shootout, and one of the Pats takes the puck and overskates it before he gets to the blueline. the ref allows him to take a loop back and pick the puck up again for his shot.
he missed anyways, but I though once you fucked up, it was done.

They had Griffen Reinhart on the 3rd pair all game long. He was Team WHL's best defenseman by a mile. Reihart almost killed that two man advantage by himself.

Pouliot & Dumba got beat on a regular basis all game long.

glad you are seeing the same control from Reinhart that made me like his game so much.
i know you had some doubts when the Isles drafted him.
he's just so damned composed
