You can't haze friends one on one. It doesn't work.

There's a reason every culture since the beginning of time has included initiation rites to be involved. Nowadays there isn't a single wide-scale thing, but most organizations haze at some level. Even if you don't call it hazing, did you have a say right off the bat on your sports teams/job? Or did you pay your dues first?

Yea, that isn't hazing though, that is related to performance, which has absolutely nothing to do with hazing.

I prefer to use the term 'initiation' than pranking and hazing.

Craig,

My problem now with what is coming out from Tanneyhill and Murtha could be factual or could be a slanted version to protect the lack of team intervention. Everyone has a lot to loose.

The only thing I am sure of is RI history of being a douche. And Karma has a way of playing out.

You could have been better than half your company off the bat and you wouldn't get treated like it.

That's earned.

Where is Martin in all of this? Everyone else is speaking out, except the 'alleged victim' ... he went into hiding.

apparently Martin was one of the ones who voted Incognito into the leadership position he was in. From all the comments from the team pointing out how close these two were to the crazy messages to them helping each other to this fall out it all points to one thing. They were lovers. And Incognito cheated. From there it all makes sense.

Which is why he should be flipping burgers. He can't handle extremely minor stress, so he clearly isn't going to be able to handle actual stress.

So you think Stanford is a cake walk, gotcha. No stress in attaining a degree from one of the most prestigious universities in the nation.

It's stressful if you make it stressful. It's not on the scale of the NFL.

Hazing is a good thing if you don't go too far. It weeds out the people who don't deserve to be there.

What a load of crap.

Someone 'deserves' to be in a group only if they let others hit them with a paddle or make them eat dog food?

I don't understand how adults can think that way, that it's needed to tell who's 'good' and who's not.

Now that the facts are out, we know:

1. Incognito was Martin's best friend on the team. They hung out religiously, even after the April phone call.

2. Incognito had Martin's back on the field when a fight broke out and in the locker room when people went after Martin.

3. Incognito did not treat Martin worse than anyone else. He was the team jokester, and most players respected him for it.

4. The "racist" bit on the phone call was actually the reverse of what was popularly portrayed. The n-word was used as a compliment to try to rile him up. I.e. he was asking Martin to be more nigXXX. We can debate the acceptability of that all we want, but that's not how it was portrayed.

5. Incognito had specifically been given the task to fire up Martin. It was widely believed that would involve some tough love.

6. His teammates and ex-teammates all support Incognito over Martin. This includes mostly black players, who Incognito is extremely popular with.

7. The "blackmailing" from the Vegas trip wasn't a blackmail at all. It was a prepaid vacation Martin agreed to and then cancelled.

8. The one paper outlet which has supported Incognito is the Miami Herald. Not coincidentally, those are the people who actually hang out with both parties.

9. Martin never asked offensive line teammates to calm down Incognito. He never spoke to the his coaches. As far as we know, he never even spoke to Incognito. His only contact that we know of was his agent talking to the GM.

10. Now that the facts and locker room support Incognito, they have decided to throw someone else under the bus (GM Jeff Ireland).

There were a lot of people on this site who rushed to judgment to condemn a man based on early reports and preconceived notions. You have now been shown to be wrong. It's time to admit that you made a mistake. It happens. However, you should not let the media manipulate you and assist in this destruction of a man's life just so one player could try to salvage is career after a mental breakdown.

I admit to a knee jerk response based on the information that was out at the time (I did not take the racist angle, but I did take the ass hole angle)...as the top down claim became know, I backed off RI to some degree, but still based on what is out there right now...he took it too far.
