They were bitching on the radio today about Newcomb starting game 2 against Scherzer instead of game 1 against the Nats' AAAA pitcher.

1. There's no guarantee that we win game 1 with Newcomb if he pitches like he was before his last 2 starts.
2. You're basically forfeiting game 2 against Scherzer that way. If Newcomb pitches like he did against the Dodgers, I like our chances, even against Scherzer.
3. I'd still favor Max Fried over that Rodriguez guy the Nats are pitching.

I guess we are the only team that can beat the Phillies. Luck has been on their side all year schedule wise. They play teams at the best time to play them while we've played those same teams at probably the worst time to play them. But thats baseball, their is some luck involved.

Bad Luck today Fried was pitching well until he got hit.

Also Allard is not a MLB pitcher IMO because he doesnt throw hard enough.

And Apparently AA tried to get Realmuto at the deadline but couldnt, IMO we could get him in the offseason for Allard,Gohara,Teheran, and Inciarte.

This afternoon was worst case scenario.

Fried goes down early. The offense can't do anything against a scrub, and Allard and Carle both implode.

I'll go ahead and say that I don't think Allard will ever be a MLB pitcher, at least not a good one.

His stuff just isn't good enough. 90 MPH fastball with no movement. I'd think about changing that to a 2 seam or a cutter going forward.

I'd try to flip him in the offseason while he's still a top 100 prospect and has value. If not, I think we will have found our next Matt Wisler.

If we find a way to win tonight, it isn't that bad, but if we lose tonight, we're in trouble. We have two favorable pitching matchups to end the series, but this Nats offense is on fire right now.

He's only 20, still plenty of time to develop. However with the pitching depth in our farm, I would definitely attempt to use him as trade bait. Probably has more question marks around him (along with Gohara) than anyone else

Nobody questions Gohara's stuff. He just needs to lose 20-25 pounds to help his durability.

You can get outs throwing 90. You can have good stuff without throwing 95+. Anibal Sanchez can't throw hard anymore, but he has good stuff. But you need to have a couple other pitches working, and that 90 can't be flat. I just don't know how you fix a guy's stuff not being good enough.
