LeBron James is a great basketball player but he's not nearly as good as Larry Bird, 1 of the best, if not the best SF's of all-time.

At 30, Bird averaged 28.1ppg, 9.2rpg, 7.6apg, 1.8spg, and 0.9bpg while shooting 52.5%, 40% on 3-pointers, and 91% on FTA's.

James averaged 25.3ppg, 6rpg, 7.4apg, 1.6spg, and 0.7bpg while shooting 48.8%, 35.4%, and 71%.

This is dumb by just picking and choosing one year and comparing it. Larry Bird at the age of 30 was his 8th year. Lebron at age 30 was in his 12th season. Would make a lot more sense to compare Lebron's 8th year with Larry's 8th year.

James in his 8th season: 26.7ppg, 7.5rpg, 7apg, 1.6spg, and 0.6bpg while shooting 51%, 33%, and 75.9%.

Happy now?

The whole thread to be honest was stupid. Choosing one year out of a player 12 year career and another 13 year career isn't the best way to decide a debate. There are several years ( I actually need both hands) to count the years where James hands down had a better season than Bird.

I'm far from that but I appreciate his greatness. There aren't many players who played SG/SF in the last 30 years or so who will ever win anindividual numbers game with Lebron except Jordan. If you're breaking it down strictly by numbers, Lebron win that battle with every player at the 2 or 3 in the last 30 years or so except Jordan

James is a PF/SF, he hasn't played much SG in his career.

And comparing SF's.....I think Bird has the edge.

And if you included James as a SG you're missing a player in that debate......Kobe.

I mean you're free to think that way. My point was if your reason for Bird being better is solely based on numbers, you're fighting a losing battle because LBJ win in the numbers game.

My SG/SF comment was more about the type of numbers we look at. When breaking down SG/SF at the end of their career, we always look at PPG, APG, & RPG usually. While with true PF/C, we're more likely to disregard the APG stats and place more emphasis on RPG and rim protection

Lebron win the numbers game with Kobe also (talking strictly about individual numbers and individual accomplishments). Only thing Kobe wins in is scoring as he was a better scorer in his prime than James even though LBJ was clearly the more efficient scorer.....but everything else James win in for the most part

Lol now I never said all of that but he has accomplished more with his teams than James did

Kobe's the only player in league history with over 30,000 points and over 6,000 assists.
