Slated to start Game 1 on a full four days' rest, Verlander would face Rangers ace C.J. Wilson, who went 16-7 with a 2.94 ERA. Wilson, though, struggled in has lone ALDS appearance against Tampa Bay: eight runs (six earned), seven hits and three homers over five innings in a 9-0 loss in Game 1. The Tigers need at least a spilt in Arlington and, as usual, Verlander would be their best bet. He would figure to pitch again in Thursday's Game 5 on full rest or -- let the debate start already! -- Wednesday's Game 4 on three days' rest.
