Thor 4: Love and Thunder (2022)

Thor 4: Love and Thunder, will be released on Friday, November 5, 2021 Friday, May 6, 2022 Friday, July 8, 2022 as the 5th 6th film (following Dr. Strange 2 and preceding Black Panther 2) of phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Taika Waititi returns as director.

The title might also be a pun reference to the phrase "Land Down Under," given that Chris Hemsworth is from Australia and Taika Waititi from New Zealand.

Chris Hemsworth is returning as the lead, but he will be only one of two Thors in the movie: Natalie Portman is returning as Jane Foster, who will also become the female Thor who was in the comics.

Valkyrie, as "King" of Asgard, will be looking for a Queen of Asgard, who will be a female love interest.

Depends. She's pretty good in some things and others she's not. I guess its a matter of if she gives a shit about the product and/or whoever the director is. Sometimes a great director can take an average actress and make them look a lot better than they actually are

I thought she did pretty well in Black Swan and V for Vendetta. She did ok in Star Wars imo too despite not having much to work with. She was pretty bland in the Thor movies though but those first two Thor movies are pretty bland in general. Dark World might be the worst of all the Marvel movies (still better than most movies you, but still).

Taiki Waititi is a good director and writer so I've got a lot of faith that he'll make this work (He also did Ragnarok, which was a lot of fun)

One thing that I got to thinking about is I wonder what this means for Guardians 3 now. At the end of Endgame, they basically set up Thor joining the Guardians in their next movie. But with GotG3 nowhere in sight in the Phase 4 announcement* and with this film likely coming before then, I guess we can assume Thor won't be palling around much with the Guardians crew.


*Gunn won't even start on GotG3 until he's done with other projects so we could be 3 maybe 4 years away). Speaking of, I'm kinda bummed it is so far off. I loved the potential they set up at the end of Endgame and also the Adam Warlock tease from GotG2

GOTG3 could end up being a prequel for Thor?

It would explain how Thor got back to earth and in whatever state he'll be in for Thor 4.

I think a lot of us are looking forward to Fat Thor in the Guardians.

I figure that it'll be at least 3-5 years is probably a good guess before we get another Guardians movie. He'll be busy for a while working on Suicide Squad 2.
