What does Declan have to do with this?

And while Floyd doesn't have multiple DUIs (1 DUI + 2 underage drinking citations), many ND fans, including myself are mad that he wasn't at least suspended 3-4 games. Though, we did play him, and for the time being, we're not on the same level as schools like PSU.

And outside of Wisconsin, each program you mentioned is either guilty or under investigation for everything I mentioned.

Lastly, the environment goes farther than recruiting. When Urban Meyer said let me recruit 3 sub-800 SAT players a year and I'll take the job right now, we told him to enjoy Florida. There's also strong rumors that we did the same thing to Stoops in 09. And look at the defensive recruits, particularly the DLinemen, and tell me with a straight face that ND is on an even level with other schools. With the exception of Te'o, every decent pickup we had was an offensive player.

Once again..With the recruiting valuations given Notre Dame by Scout and Rivals, why isn't it translating to the football field?

Are those ratings being manipulated because it's Notre Dame?

The two reasons I mentioned above:

1. Coaching - Our name can still bring talent in, but our coaches are under utilizing a lot of our talent. Weis was inept on D and at OLine. Davie was inept on O. And Willingham spent more time golfing than coaching. Get rid of the standards, and we've got either Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops developing these players.

2. Defensive recruiting - we've had some of the best QBs, WRs and TEs in the past few years. Problem is, the average recruit on offense tends to be a bit better in the head than the guys on the other side of the ball. The main reason Meyer wanted his 3 player exception was because he knew he needed DEs and DTs to back up the offense.

It's the media that thinks Notre Dame "deserves" a NT...and some of the fans. There are good football fans amongst the Irish. And there are complete idiots in the SEC and ACC fanbases, good ones as well.

And look. IrishFutbol has a point about the South, and there's really no questioning it. Why don't more kids up in New York City, Chicago...etc. play football? Because first of all, participating in anything related to the high-school isn't really a popular notion...even with football. And they don't see it as a way out, because the schools put more pressure on them to be students in the North.

On top of that, people in most places in the North don't make as many exceptions for prep and collegiate athletes. High-Schools give a shit if they show up to class with at least a notebook, or if they fail a piss test. There's still a lot of basketball players, but it's also a more popular sport in the cities. It's accepted as part of life the way football is down south. People do make exceptions for the ballers, and even when they don't, you don't need 60 guys on the roster to have a good team in basketball....

It isn't even just one culture that feels that way, either. Go to any neighborhood in New York, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston...and ask how many people play for, or go to watch the high-school teams. Penn State and Ohio State have talent because their states are more populated and prep football is a little more popular. But even then, the recruiting hotbeds are outside the major cities. Unlike Miami, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans.....

You can knock Notre Dame. You can knock the Northeast. But the South has their own demons. Accept reality.

I was under the impression that the reason a lot of kids in the inner cities don't play football is a lack of facilities...basketball requires less space and money and is therefore the major sport at those schools.

Even in the rural/suburban areas, where the facilities are available, basketball tends to be bigger.

In football, if a highschool recruits someone, it means going up to 30-45 minutes away to get a kid.

In basketball, it means running camps in Europe/Africa, finding some 6'6+ giant, moving him to America, and setting him up with money/housing.

To summarize

One of the big reasons CFB isn't popular in the Northeast is that they aren't lowlifes willing to take every advantage to win. Between Syracuse, ND, BC and PSU, none of them partake in:

1. Oversigning
2. Steroids
3. Questionable recruit tactics
4. Recruiting braindead idiots
5. Recruiting expelled players

For some reason, the north values the school, where as the south seems quite content with all of their God awful academic rankings.

Cause Jimmy Clausen was so smart...O wait.

And as for the man up and join a conference line...congrats on playing an easier schedule than UPenn?

Classic northern bigot.

Negged.

I did, however, like your link. Maybe if ND manned up & joined a conference, they'd be a little higher on that list. :becky:
