there has to be a better way for fantasy playoffs

12 team where 7 teams get in and the top team gets a bye. the #7 guy with a 6-7 record and 1388pts made the playoffs and took out the #3 team who was 9-4 with 1616 points on the year.


score of the game was 95-78. we have all been there i'm sure but damn thats gotta sting! there has to be a better way of doing the playoffs. i mean what the hell is the point of even building a strong team when you can sneak into the playoffs and win on any given day.


i came up with an idea at work today. the playoff teams can face off in a 4 week playoff that is strictly based on total points for starting lineups over those 4 weeks. too extreme? you could give top 2 teams a bye and the 3/6 4/5 teams face off in a "regular" wild card style play in game then the 4 teams left could go into a 3 week total starting lineup based points playoff?

or you could eliminate the VS for the playoffs and just go off points based and the lowest teams get knocked out every week.

Second of all... If the number 3 seed ONLY scored 78 points, they didn't deserve to go further anyway...

Yeah, that looks pretty crazy to me. My main money league is divided into 3 divisions where the top 2 teams in each go to the playoffs and the top 2 seeds get a bye. The one downfall (well, not IMO but lots of guise don't like this) is that we play into week 17.

EDIT: And since this is a H2H league, points and all-play don't matter until we get into tie breakers.

Actually, the 2 week finals is a different league that this one, but it plays into week 17 too. I have to admit, I think playing into week 17 is not even close to as bad as many seem to think.

Makes more sense... But again 78 points scored, so he cant really complain about losing... with that score he would have lost to MOST playoff teams IMO... or atleast deserved to lose...

If you want two week semis then end the season after 12 weeks. Especially if the site your using allows for scheduling double headers

In my main league we play 25 games in 12 weeks end start the 4 week playoffs in week 13

Doubt it was TREFF though, I'm pretty sure his main money goofy scoring league goes into week 17. Now, that league I'm playing in that goes into week 21 or 22 (can't remember off hand), that is turning into a major mind fuck.

with the new football I don't think it is fair to start the playoffs before week 14.... Stupidly, there are byes week 13...

But I do prefer the longer regular seasons anyway... makes the regular season more important... the one thing I would recommend is to not ONLY decide playoff teams by record, I think at least one spot should be decided by "breakdown" or "power" it really is a shame to have deserving teams not make the playoffs when you allow some crap teams in...

I also am in favor of reseeding based on "breakdown" or "power"...

and would certainly have a 2 week final that is week 16 and week 17...

How did it end up???? Did anybody get screwed with week 17 sits??? To me, since I started in that league that plays into week 17 20 years ago, it's just part of the game TBH.

i agree putting up that many points sucks but honestly with a 9-4 record i think you "deserve" more then a 1 and done game. esp against a 6-7 guy

I agree... Maybe to start, you should go to 6 playoff teams, so not MORE THAN HALF make the playoffs... and then the 2 seed would get a bye... as they deserve...
