The thing is you can find OL in any conference, also in any round. Their form and tape matters more than competition. I've seen a ton of OL playing in the SEC and big conferences fail. He will have to work on his penalty issue and there is some development there too.

When you’re jumpy at Tulsa that is not good. Jumpy in the SEC ok maybe we can work with that…
This to the most penalized NFL team

That is much more of a headscratcher than say the Cards trading for Marquise Brown or even the Pats taking an OL. Like wtf. You get a 2nd & 3rd for giving up 20 spots in the 1st. That is future 1st worthy.
And they gave a divisional rival a WR that has the ceiling of being a gamebreaker.

Imagine the next FA QB coming on to the market. Lions have Penei Sewell, TJ Hockinson, Jameson Williams, Amon Ra St Brown, DJ Chark, D'Andre Swift. Or imagine the Lions getting the top QB in next year's draft. Lions could be better than the Vikings two years from now and Jameson Williams might be a huge reason why.

If you have issues you need to fix, you have issues you need to fix. Conference doesn't matter if you can't fix your weaknesses. You either put in the work to fix it or not.
He clearly has issues and sure Dallas could have picked him in the 2nd maybe? Who knows, a lot of teams that could always use an extra tackle.

Yep, they certainly have some young talent and they could still finish as a bottom 3 team. If they get a top QB in 2023 they are on a nice path. Such a head scratching trade.

I kinda get the Vikings trading down. Its a fairly deep secondary class. They just didnt get great value for the player who was in that spot. Williams, Hamilton, and Jordan Davis all had a market. They could've done better.

I dont think the Chiefs picking McDuffie was a likely scenario heading into the draft. Vikings and Cardinals both had to get out of the way. Chiefs top priorities were probably Edge and then whatever lanky man corner they could find. McDuffie is more of a CB/S hybrid and is undersized so that really fits the Honey Badger mold more than their outside CB mold.

Vikings, on the other hand, probably weren't too picky. Just pick one of the many DBs they had a high grade on and get the extra pick for trading back. They just didnt find the right trading partner to make it worth their while imo.

I knew Collins and he's a legitimate starter. The fact the other 2 guys are penciled in as starters for you to me wascmore an indication of just how bad things were. Looking quickly at their grades one guy was ranked 44th out of 64 starting guards and the other was 27th of 32 starting centers at pass blocking. I'm glad they upgraded from terrible to just bad. But there's plenty of room for improvement still. I like watching Burrow play, I just feel like they should do better by him before filling some future holes.
I'll agree that the guys aren't top 3 guys, or world beaters, but they are better than just "bad".

Cappa had a 74.2 PFF grade over 1,182 snaps, allowing just five sacks (he allowed zero in 2020). I mean, if he only gives up 5 sacks, that's pretty damned good, and damn near perfect considering how bad the OL was last year.

Karras was ranked in the top 10 among all guards in pass blocking efficiency (8th), pressures allowed (1st), PFF pas block grade (8th). He'll be at center, but has shown he has no issues sliding between the two positions.

I mean, that's more than just going for awful to bad...that's going from bad to pretty good.

Tyler Smith in the first round was a surprising reach by Dallas. I think he is an interesting player for sure, a nasty guy, but needs some work. Maybe he becomes great, but they probably could have had him a round later.
I think they could have traded back a little and still got him, but no he wasn't going to be there for their 2nd. Even trading back into early 2nd means you might lose out on him.

If it were me drafting I'm taking the DE Johnson, one of the LB, Linderbaum, or the Georgia DT.

I'm OK with tbe pick just not my first choice.

Goodness gracious son this is a mental issue not Physical. If you’re having issues with this in a weak conference at Tulsa, you’re going to have seriously issues in the NFL. Can it be worked out? Sure. But it also could get worse

It’s a perfect example of the non home run picks available late in the 1st.

Why because your mocks done by guys who watched him play once or twice and read where other mocks had him showed it that way? Criticize the pick all you want (and I'm far from sold myself) but that's a dumb way of thinking IMO. The Cowboys said someone wanted to trade up with them and after the pick texted that it was Smith they wanted so good thing Dallas didn't trade with them. True? Who knows, but a little more validity than "could have had him a round later"

Everyone thought Dallas reached on Travis Frederick and he turned out to be a great pick, though unfortunately his career was derailed by illness. So maybe this guy pans out. But yes, it looks like a reach right now. Keep crying though, it's hilarious.

Not a fan of the Eagles loading up on WRs to make their mediocre QB look better than he is, tbh. Weird strategy imo

The IQ between Frederick and this dude is a very large gap

Yeah, Rams used their first on a SB winning QB. Crazy.
Which first are we talking about?

Are you going to watch the 2nd round tomorrow? If so why?

No one questions the Lambs went all in. It paid off. Now we all get to sit back and watch all those contracts come due with little to no young rookie replacements.
