I have seen some of the best free throw shooters now miss big ones, and lose a game.

That's kind of sad that he can shoot that well and barely win. Portland's defense sucks.

How about some props to Mitchell for making those last two free throws of regulation and all the ones prior?

Out of all of the things I was thinking about after I finished watching, I didn't even notice this.

Thanks for pointing it out.

I wish I would have known he was 100% while watching the game, so I could have had a few positive thoughts in my head, near the end.

When my son was in 8th grade the Kiwanis Club held a free throw shooting contest. My kid hit 23/25, the next round a week later he hit 23/25, the finals another week later he made 23/25 but tied with 2 other kids. A 5 shot shoot-out he made 2/5 and came in 2nd. On the entire 1 1/2 hour ride home all we heard was "I suck so much". I had to remind him of the 69/75 (92%) he did to get there. He didn want to hear it, ha

Ouch. Nice to see that he really wanted to make every one. Thanks for sharing.

2/9, Rudy Gobert?
The Jazz started the season shooting 223/313, 71.2% in the first 16 games.

Then, then they were 144/168, 85.7%, in the next 7 games.

Then, 14/21 against Indiana. :(

Still, 83.6% since the first 16 is improvement.

I looked at it a different way because I had broken up the first hundred free throws and the next hundred free throws and the next hundred free throws. I could further cherry pick it by saying in the first 14 games they shot 182/266 (68.4%). Since then, they are 199/236 (84.3%) in the next 10.

The great Gobert giveth, and he taketh away.

After getting me juiced by going 7/7 yesterday, he goes 0/4 today.

I wonder if I'll ever watch an important Gobert game where he goes 100%.

LeBron missed a free throw in the game before playing the Jazz that would have won in regulation. He made the shot but missed the and one. Lost in OT.

I’ve never been juiced by free throw perfection, especially in a loss to a sub-500 team. Maybe excited for game winning free throws (Jazz make/opponents miss).

Well you're right about the loss part.

However, Miami is only temporarily sub .500. They'll probably finish better than that.

Would you have gotten juiced if a Jazz player had a 22 assist, 0 turnover game, but the same score and result against Miami on Friday?

I think juiced is the wrong term for me and 22 assists is too low in general, because 28 players have gotten more, though it being a Jazz player would be cool. It does bug me that the single game high is a non-Jazz player, Scott Skiles who had 30.

Ok, let's say the Jazz player had 29 assists, 0 turnovers. Same game result.

Does it make sense to say that Gobert "giveth" when me makes his FTs, and "taketh" when he misses them?

Or should it be the other way around? As in, when he makes them, he "taketh" them.

And when he misses them, he "giveth" them, because he gives up point opportunities?
