Remember, Gareth was on the rooftop when he got shot in the shoulder, so he had a vantage point of who was entering and leaving each building. Carol was dressed as a walker, so they didnt attack her, but he could have still seen her leaving and then realized she was the last one in there.

It was also shown that he was in the box car as they were pulling a girl out to get raped and I was pretty sure he was talking to her. We dont know the time frame or if it was one of the flashback sequences before they took Terminus back the first time though.

The scenes of him in the boxcar were from "then", meaning those were flashbacks to when they were turned from a "good" group (like Ricks group -- accepting wanderers) to a "bad" group, trapping wanderers instead.

I think Martin informed him about Carol being the one who broke them all out. Maybe your theory about him seeing her exit the "ritual" room may the explanation. But I think they should have shown that, if that was the case.

Really weird conversation between Gareth and Bob, but I guess it was just because Gareth talked to Bob at the trough.

When Rick came out of the shadows, what a great moment. I was honestly thinking that Carl would end up taking out a couple of hunters lol, don't know how Rick and company knew to come back. Guess they are just far superior to any other group at this point.

I was a little surprised when they initially left, since they seemed to understand that they were being watched pretty intensely, particularly after they gave em Bob back.

Last nites episode was a little off to me. Particularly the ending and the separation of the group..AGAIN.

My take on that was that their "leaving" was a ruse to draw the Hunters in. Doesn't make a TON of sense, though, because of the whole discussion between Sasha and Tyreese. If it was a ruse, there would not have been so much argument about who left and who stayed.

Maybe someone in Ricks group saw the Hunters approach the church after they left (or heard them, they were load breaking in the door).

That's what I was thinking because they showed the scene where the group was planning their attack, you would think they would mention the possibility of a sneak attack. It had to have been a spur of the moment thing or as you said, they might have heard the door getting busted down.

The show is borrowing heavily from the comics in this arc, which is a good thing. I had forgotten a lot of that stuff.

I'm thinking he is shaken becaus Carol got caught when they got Beth out and he had no choice but to leave her. Maybe they go back to where he found beth to try to free Carol, they owe her for freeing them.

I don't read or follow the comic book storyline, but if that's the case, then it's a no brainer they go back and get her.....and you know Rick & Michonne will definitely be down for that.
