“Trey is no longer a member of our football team,” said LSU coach Les Miles in a statement released by the school. “We have gathered information on this incident and we feel it’s best for us to part ways.”
“Harold is making great progress and is no longer at University Hospital… and is hopeful of being able to go home near the end of this week,” a school official told the Daily Tribune.
Brantley, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, sustained a broken tibia, knee ligament damage and multiple fractured ribs in the rollover wreck. Surgeryhas already been performed on his broken leg, while knee surgery will take place at some pointy in the next 3-4 weeks.
There’s still no word on Brantley’s availability for the upcoming season.
Last season, Brantley started 10 of the 14 games in which he played.
The Houston Chronicle‘s Brent Zwerneman is reporting Thursday that Jay Arnold has beenforced to retire from the sport of football due to health issues. Specifically, the lineman is dealing with a lingering shoulder issue that simply wouldn’t allow him to continue to play.
“The shoulder wasn’t going to hold up for another season,” Arnold told Zwerneman.
Arnold played in 11 games last season, starting one of those contests. He started two games during his Aggie career, which began after he came to College Station as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2013.
Last month, off-field issues prompted Alabama to dismiss Jonathan Cook from Nick Saban‘s football team. A month later, Cook’s mother has confirmed that her son is already enrolled at a Kansas junior college and will play football for Garden City Community College this season.
Melissa Cook also confirmed to al.com that, when her son moves back to the FBS level, Auburn and Florida State sit atop his wishlist. It should be noted Cook has yet to hear from either school.
