LSU has received signed scholarship papers from Purdue transfer quarterback Danny Etling, a source confirmed with the Geaux247 staff on Monday.
The scholarship papers came across on Monday afternoon, the source confirmed. Etling, who will have to sit out the 2015 season, is from Terre Haute, Ind., and he attended same high school that LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron attended.
He makes the move from Purdue after playing in 13 games for the Boilermakers, completing 238-of-429 passes for 2,490 yards, 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
He signed with Purdue as part of the 2013 class, ranked as the No. 17 pro-style quarterback in the country and a Top 300 prospect. He also was picked as an Elite 11 participant. He will have to sit out this fall, but then has two more years of eligibility remaining.
This gives LSU four scholarship quarterbacks on the depth chart this fall, including Brandon Harris, Anthony Jennings and Justin McMillan.
Who has the most talent in the SEC at DB?
"Alabama has a huge advantage in talent at defensive back (as opposed to skill or on-field production). The Tide roster includes a jaw-dropping 14 four- or five-star defensive backs. LSU (9) and Florida (8), both of which have nationally-elite secondaries, aren’t even close to that sort of depth. Bama’s pass defense has no excuse this year.

Immediately following the Crimson Tide’s Sugar Bowl loss to Ohio State, PornHub’s traffic from the state of Alabama was reportedly 90 percent higher than average.
Shortly after Mississippi State’s spring practice came to an end in April, Kent Flowers opted to transfer out of Dan Mullen’s football program. The thing is, nobody had caught wind of it… until now.
According to Mike Bonner of the Jackson Clarion-Ledger and Robbie Faulk of247Sports.com, who each cite Cliff Furr asthe source, Flowers (pictured, No. 74) has decided to continue his collegiate playing career at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi. Flowers is not yet listed on the Wolfpack’s official online roster, for whatever that’s worth.
Because Co-Lin is a JUCO, the offensive lineman will be eligible to play immediately in 2015.
On Friday night Georgia Tech announced senior linebacker Anthony Harrell had been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules. Not long after that, Harrell had an announcement of his own. He’s transferring out of Georgia Tech.
As is typically the case, there are two sides of the story. On the one side, Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson says Harrell was suspended for a violation of team rules. On the other, Harrell says he was not suspended and his decision to transfer to Florida was on his own terms.
“These past four years at Georgia Tech have been amazing. It is with a sad heart that I announce that I am leaving Georgia Tech and my Yellow Jacket football team,” Harrell said on his Twitter account. “I have been accepted to the University of Florida’s Masters Degree Program. My family and I have decided that it would be better for my future and where I want to fo in life and that I will be attending and playing my 5th year of football at the University of Florida.”
One of LSU’s key additions to the Class of 2015 has been given the “all systems go” from the NCAA to join the program this season. Arden Key, a defensive end from Atlanta, has now been cleared by the NCAA and expected to join the LSU program in August according to a report by Ross Dellenger of The Advocate.
Key was one of two LSU players previously reported to not be enrolled in summer classes. There did not appear to be much concern for the lack of enrollment, as sometimes these things happen and camp has yet to begin. LSU will open camp on August 6. Per Dellenger’s report, Key was not cleared in time to begin summer classes with the rest of LSU’s Class of 2015.
According to ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad, Jacob Park will visit Alabama this weekend. After speculation of a potential had been mounting, Georgia confirmed exactly two weeks ago today that the quarterback would be leaving Richt’s football program.
If Park were to transfer to the Tide, he wouldn’t be eligible to play in 2015 because of NCAA transfer rules. He would, though, have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2016.
