Being a New York Islanders fan can be very frustrating. My team is once again expected to not just miss the playoffs but to finish close to the bottom. They were turned down by several top UFA's again. None of this is a surprise. It's par for the course.

I will certainly hope for the best. However I know the chances are very slim. I'm definately ready for this rebuild to end.

I'm just being realistic. As things stand right now the Islanders will be somewhere between 15 & 16 million dollars below the cap floor come July 1st next year. After signing Okposo & Bailey they're still going to have a ton of cap room. It's the same every year of late. Having the cap space is one thing, convncing UFA's to come is another.

Pay em some decent quag and they'll come. In their case, they'll have to overpay a little to lure some more talent in the rebuilding phase.

They offered Martin more than he signed for. Same with Pavel Kubina. Every player in the league knows how bad the NVMC is. They don't want to play their 41 times per year.

I dunno. I think hockey in LI is dead. Gonna be tough to ressurect that bad boy. Fans just arent that into it anymore, theres more away fans from Atlantic rivals than there are Piles fans.

They expected maybe 1500 people for their prospect game. Over 5000 showed up. Hockey is far from dead in L.I.

That place always seems empty halfway through the season. The support fades. Look at Toronto, they suck, but the support is insane, same with Edmonton. I really see the Isles on the chopping block.

Wang isn't going anywhere. As long as he owns the team they're staying put. The lease isn't up until after the 2015 season.

honestly... I can see them somewhere between 6-9, I truly believe they'll make the playoffs. However, I foresee them letting me down as usual and me rooting for the B's like last year.
