Other than Gaborik who's going to score? God help the Rangers if he gets hurt their season is over.

I think Frolov will be a good addition for us. I also see Kennedy getting better now in his sophomore year. MZA is supposed to be pretty friggin nasty too, but I can't make any predictions or bank on anyone til I hear some decent camp reports.

I stated in another thread, the Lighthouse Project just makes too much sense for politicians to actually approve it.

Also, I understand why they went with Tavares, but I feel drafting Hedman would have been a better move in terms of winning. They also could've thrown some cash at Mike Komisarek (from Long Island, hometown kid), combine that with Mark Streit and you have a solid defensive corp. Just my opinion.

The majority of media experts are picking the Flames to miss the playoffs again this season. It depends on three big things as far as I'm concerned (listed in order of importance)

1) Kipper - He almost got the Flames to the playoffs and played fantastic last season - He needs to play at close to the same level this season for the Flames to have any hope.
2) Goals for - Need more production from everyone (offense/defense/power play)
3) Injuries - If Kipper goes down, so do the Flames hopes of making the playoffs

A lot of people thought they would go hard after Komisarek. For some reason it didn't happen.

The Islanders made the right choice with Tavares. Offense is still a big ?? They need all the goals they can get.

There are plenty of D prospects coming. Travis Hamonic being the best of the lot. Calvin DeHaan hasn't had a good start at training camp. The Isles prospects played the B's prospects & for some reason he wouldn't take a slapshot. My guess is he's still worried about his surgically repaired shoulder for some reason. Calvin will probably spend the year in Oshawa.

Mark Katic
Matt Donovan
Blake Kessel
Shane Sims
All of these guys could end up on the Islanders blueline within the next 2 years. That would be an entirely new top 6.

Like you said Kipper is the key to the Flames success. They also need a big year from Iginla. JayBo needs to produce more. Giordano can't fall off from the great season he had last year. It would be a big boost if Backlund was ready. Jokinen "The Finnish Floater" could be the key because the Flames need offense & he's capable of producing.

Will cap issues keep the Flames from making a deal for a forward at the deadline?

Being a New York Islanders fan can be very frustrating. My team is once again expected to not just miss the playoffs but to finish close to the bottom. They were turned down by several top UFA's again. None of this is a surprise. It's par for the course.

I will certainly hope for the best. However I know the chances are very slim. I'm definately ready for this rebuild to end.

I googled Islanders and this came up.

Mark Streit injured his shoulder in the 3rd period of the Islanders scrimmage this afternoon. The team will know the extent of the injury by Monday. It's believed Streit could miss 2 to 6 weeks.

Ales Kotalik had a goal, two assists, and the shootout winner for the Flames tonight. I'm afraid this could be the first sign of the apocalypse.

that one's going to hurt.

pushed into the boards by Moulson?

Yeah that's what happened. Islanders head coach said it was a fluke play. It didn't seem like a big hit. Streit's shoulder got jammed against the board I guess & now he's probably out for the year.

The most pathetic thing about this is the Islanders have yet to play their first preseason game. The injury occurred during a team scrimmage.:(

Okposo has a shoulder injury. We'll know how bad it is later today. Hamonic has an injured shoulder as well. Don't know how serious it is or if it's the same shoulder as last year.

They haven't even played a preseason game yet. UGH!!
