The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay
my vengeance upon thee.
Ezekiel 25:17

It shows he lost control of HIS program. He's the head coach. It's his job to know what's going on in all facets of HIS football team. I don't blame Pete for taking the Microsoft Money & moving to Seattle, but don't give me this shit that he wasn't responsible for what happend at USC. He's the head coach. It's his program. What happened is on him. The fact that he's refused to answer one question about it is all I need to know.
No, he's the football coach so he should control his players on the field. No head coach can be a babysitter for around 100 college kids. That's ridiculous. And it's not his program. Colleges have Athletic Directors. It's their program.

LOL!! Tell that to all the coaches who got raises because their schools didn't want them to take the Texas job. Who would replace Saban if he left Alabama? Who would replace Fisher if he left Florida St? Nobody nearly as good that's for sure. Pete was in their class. He was able to get 5 star recruits with ease. It was his program just like Saban & Fisher have theirs. USC hasn't been the same since.

Which is nothing. You speculate and presume he is the one at fault or at least knew about it and did nothing. The fact is, there is no evidence that he had knowledge of the Bush fiasco. I'm not much of a Carroll fan anymore but obviously I have a biased reason for that. It seems like you have something driving your opinion of Carroll besides your incredible morality and righteousness.

What does any of this have to do with culpability when it comes to Bush being given a house? :L

Why is it everytime any reporter has asked Carroll about the Bush scandal that he refuses to answer? If he had nothing to do with it why doesn't he answer the questions? Pete was the Head Coach at USC. It was his program. He ran it his way. I have a hard time believing Carroll didn't know something regarding the recruitment of one of the top prep players in the entire country. If he didn't lets here his explaination. Unfortunately it's highly unlikely to ever come.

People don't have to explain not being involved in violations :wtf2:

Then people have the right to speculate when the program they left is put on probation right after they run to another job.
And people have the right to tell that person they're wrong :suds:

Its not as if PC "ran" to a similarly prestiged college to avoid sanctions. He was offered a HC gig back into the NFL. That is something only 32 people can say at one time. Considering people thought he couldn't cut it in the NFL because of his previous stint, and had proven nothing but success at the college level, it was the perfect opportunity to try and achieve new greatness. I'm sure Chip Kelly felt the same way when he accepted his current gig. I don't hear anyone bitching about him

PC was probably leaving anyway with the NFL offer but I'm sure the Reggie Bush thing sealed the deal. Improper benefits is rampant in CFB and anybody who thinks otherwise is pretty naive. The thing I think is sad is how little these guys sell themselves out for. Someone like Cam Newton was worth 7 figures to Auburn and I think 250k for Reggie Bush is a really conservative figure for him at USC. They need to stop the nonsense and either pay them or start some type of minor league system so some of these kids who have little chance of graduating (and if they do they probably wouldn't have gained any real job skills anyway) can just get paid for what they're best at. If they wash up then they can make the decision of whether or not they want to put the effort in the classroom to actually get themselves educated.

OK, let's say you coach football for a living. A team owned by one of the richest men in the country offers you the head coaching job, allows you to pick the GM and gives you veto power over him and gives you an executive position with the organization. Would you take it?

Of course you would! That's every coach's dream job!

Now if he had left USC to take some defensive coordinator position for less money or something then I could see accusations of "jumping ship" having some merit but that's not what happened.

Opportunity came knocking for him big time. How could he turn that down?

I got my hopes up when I saw this thread; I thought Seattle signed Tebow.

Give me a break. He left USC because he knew the mess he created was coming & going to hit his ass hard. The Seahawks gave him an easy way out.

Because he was the athletic director of an NCAA athletics program responsible for complying with the NCAA rules?

edit: Looks like my fellow 12's and others already addressed this issue.

Heh, though I actually think Tebow would make a good NFL player, just not as a QB. He should put his ego aside and become a fullback or tight end or something.

The reason nobody is bitching about Kelly is he has to sit out a year if he wants to coach in college again. He left Oregon at the right time.

Kelly bailed because the NCAA made it known in advance to Nike U. what the terms of their sanctions would be, which was going to include a 18 month show cause penalty. This basically bans you from being employed by any NCAA school for that period of time. Because of that, Kelly can't coach at the college level till 2015.
