@RealKyper: Look for #Rangers to dump some $ before 3pm. The plan is 2 extend Clowe at some pt and parameters r understood for a new deal. #TradeTracker

Yeah, that looks weird. Did the Sharks trade them a 2nd before and they're getting it back now or something? /shrug

No, they never traded it. With the Clowe trade the Sharks current picks for the upcoming draft are:

1st round: Sharks
2nd round: Sharks, Rangers, Penguins
3rd round: Panthers
4th round: Sharks
5th round: Sharks
6th round: Sharks
7th round: Flames, Sharks

Apologies to @Real_ESPNLeBrun, 2nd rder going from NYR to SJ is of course NYR's, not SJ's as I incorrectly typed. You know what I mean. Doh.

Do the sharks have someone in the draft they want, maybe using their first and second(s) to move up?

As per @Real_ESPNLeBrun, it's SJ's 2nd, FLA's 3rd and conditional 2nd (on re-signing or winning two playoff series). If not, it becomes 5th.

Wow, so Doug Murray fetched more then Clowe (2 2nd rndrs)... Clowe your a fuck face for screwin the trade with your $5mil demands... And Wilson come one man, if this its true, a 2nd, a 3rd and a 5th, thats the best you could come up with!??? You couldnt even land a 1st?? Something smells weird ith this...

I think NYR overpaid but whatever.

Clowe just isn't that good anymore.

Sounds like the NTC Wilson gave him screwed Clowe's value as he limited Wilson's trade options. Clowe's contract demands didn't help eather as it means he's moved as a pure rental.

Sharks got a 2nd in 2013 and a 3rd in 2014 for Murray. 3rd could turn into a 2nd if Pit wins two PO rounds or Murray re-signs.

Sharks got a 2nd in 2013, 3rd in 2013, and a 5th in 2014 for Clowe. 5th turns into a 2nd if NYR win two PO rounds or Clowe re-signs.

Of the two I think there is a better chance of Clowe re-signing with the Rangers.

Even though he has had good years in the past, hard to sell a guy who has 0 goals and same amount of points as Scott Gomez. I'm happy with both of our trades. You don't know if it's 2 2nds and a 3rd or a 2nd, 3rd and 5th yet either...

Likewall, I think you hit it right on the head earlier....Clowe just isn't very good, and his lame contract demands, if true, further tied the Sharks hands. I'm sure Wilson took the best offer he received.

Well, we get faster, more cap space, and more picks in a deep draft. It is what it is haha better than nothing.

I can see Wilson making another move before the deadline like flipping a couple of the 2nds for Pominville.

I really don't see Boyle being moved until the offseason.

Clowe doing what Clowe does best...trollin.

This time it got the Sharks lesser trade value for him. Oh well, his 0 goals didn't help things.

the return from clowe is great. sure a 1st rounder would have been nice, but 2 2nds and a 3rd is a nice return. If things fall into place, the sharks will have 4 picks in the first two rounds both this year and next year. That's 8 legit prospects coming in plus any good depth picks.

Historically, about half of 2nd rouners make the NHL and maybe 20% become impact players. In other words, including all later picks, the sharks can expect some 5 or 6 NHLers from the next two drafts, and likely at least 2 or 3 being very solid ones. That goes a long way to rebuilding the franchise and dougie did it without touching the roster in any real meaningful way.

now the interesting thing is to see how good irwin and tennyson are over the rest of the season.

Hopefully Doug Wilson has learned that handing out NTCs as if they were candy on halloween can really bite you in the ass. Knowing Clowe, he wanted to make this as difficult as possible on Wilson to top it off.

not to mention the 3rd rounder they got is from florida, so that basically like a second rounder from chicago, since it's only 1 pick difference. That's 5 picks of the first 62. Nice setup for a draft that supposed to be this deep.
