Tough to watch Jokinen go to Pittsburgh for the same price it cost to get Hannan. Jokinen is still only 30, fast, and Carolina is picking up a portion of his salary. Would have loved Jokinen in teal.

The problem remains Jokinen's contract next year.

Not sure how much Carolina is picking up but I'm guessing not enough to make it worth it.

Yes, correct on the contract but from everything I've read, he hasn't been worth $3M for a couple years now so no GM wanted to take on the remainder of that contract -- which is why nobody put a claim on him when he was on waivers last week or whenever that was.

Remember that salary cap is going down by a bunch next year too... and a lot of teams need to scramble to get under it... so taking on an extra $3M (minus whatever Carolina now eats) isn't going to be as easy, etc.

I wasn't taking that into consideration. We are in pretty decent shape as far as the cap goes for next year, don't want to screw that up. Maybe Jokinen isn't the player that he once was. I just figured we could use the speed and scoring touch, he's also nails in the faceoff circle.
