Isn't this their usual MO though. Didn't they acquire as much talent as they had by doing this a few years back?

To me they are an example of a team that should either be moved or contracted, but the latter will never happen.

not arguing with you but if you look at teams that should be contracted the Rangers would be more likely than the A's in the AL West. they've have been better than us for most of the last 10 years or so

But I think the point for contraction, is that in that 10 years, only 173 people showed up to watch their games. The Rangers have a lot more masochistic fans.....lol

i agree but the major factor in the few cases of contraction has focused on the team history as a competitive team and the A's have been a more competitive team over the years than the Rangers. now moving the team to a better location makes sense for the A's than contraction

I don't think contraction happens in MLB. There are plenty of other markets that can support MLB teams across the country. Oakland just sucks

there's one major factor: money. A's don't spend it and don't bring it in.

I have always took a wait and see approach with SS Luisangel Acuna. He is starting to get my attention though. He has put together a great season thus far.
