I say the Rangers need to encourage him to have the surgery. No point in having him to continue to play at that level.

He is not playing at a level that he helps the team, even with the bat. The fact that he can't play his position makes him of little use. He is only hurting his value, by continuing to try and play through the injury. Lots of times the injuries that can be rehabbed without surgery end up requiring surgery at a later time anyway.

as we know Duran and Hearn sent down but also Bush has been placed on the IL with Sborz called up. Evans has been DFA'ed to make room for Duggar on the 40.

As for Bush, 36, the news of forearm soreness is potentially ominous, especially given his lengthy injury history. In 2018, he underwent surgery to deal with a partially torn ligament and attempted to return in the latter half of 2019. At that point, he suffered a torn UCL and required Tommy John surgery, the second time he would have to undergo that procedure. The Rangers signed him to a two-year minors deal to cover his rehab over 2020 and eventual return in 2021. A flexor strain limited him to just four innings last year, after which he was outrighted and then re-signed to yet another minor league deal by the Rangers. He made the Opening Day roster this year and has thrown 26 2/3 innings with a 4.05 ERA, 31.3% strikeout rate, 6.1% walk rate and 36.8% ground ball rate. He’s emerged as a high-leverage option for the club, racking up a save and eight holds on the season.

The club hasn’t provided any estimates on his absence and he will surely undergo more testing. Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News relays that this move is being characterized as “precautionary” but also adds that the club was insisting that Bush was not injured as recently as yesterday. More news will surely be released in the days to come, though Bush has now thrown just over 30 total innings over the past four years due to persistent arm troubles, making it fair to wonder just how much the Rangers can rely on him going forward.

Garver needs to shut it down and have surgery. He’s not helping the team at all in his current state. It’s a selfish move on his part to try and play thru it.

If not for 8/9 hole this is a very nice line up.

I blame Woody and FO. They do not have to play him.

Yeah, I feel confident that when they bring Duran and Huff up to play full time that they are going to do well.
If they don’t sign or trade someone to block them. I have no faith that this organization will do the right thing.

i agree but it's a start. now we could have Smith in LF, insert Duran in place of Miller(permanently) at 3B. move Adonis in CF, Calhoun from DH to RF. still need a DH but we could drop Culberson and bring Huff back and insert him at DH

Duggar is a head scratcher. Just dfa him. If someone claims him no big loss.
it came down to getting Willie out of Texas and the Rangers chose to accept the Giants' offer. i would imagine that Duggar is only going to be here until the trade deadline and then he's gone along with Culberson, Miller and a couple of others

the FO should be pressuring him to have the surgery now and not wait. the recovery time period is 7 to 8 months which means get it done now and be ready for opening day of ST, put on a good show and then we could trade him

Miller still has 1.5 years and $7 million left on his contract
