And then there is the whole dumpster fire known as Risto.
2 guys at $5,000,000 each will score more than 33 goals and 68 points. You really think he is worth $10,000,000 per year? He's our best player.
Have you forgotten that the Flyers can't draft for shit?
How are you going to replace konecny??
How many goals is your 10 million dollars going to score???
Not at all, he's a good player but not 10,000.000 great. I think as a real fan I'll stick with the team and what's working for a rebuild. Investing tons of money is what got us where we are now. We have a couple more scorers joining the team, I think if Konecny is stuck on 10 million we could do better.2 guys at $5,000,000 each will score more than 33 goals and 68 points. Why would anyone sign with Philly, yet they do. Everyone here loves TK, just not at $10,000,000. I don't think any team would sign him for that much as he is not a top 20 player. Top 50, yes, but not top 20.Imaginary players don't score any points.
Why would Konecny sign here?
If another team signs Konecny for 9.5 how does that help us?Why would anyone sign with Philly, yet they do. Everyone here loves TK, just not at $10,000,000. I don't think any team would sign him for that much as he is not a top 20 player. Top 50, yes, but not top 20.
Along with this kid we have like 3 more potential impact players coming up the system. We need a solid defense to give our offensive players the chance to flourish. Someone has the room to take Konecny for 9.5-10 a year, he's a fool not to take it. Risto is the biggest anchor contract right now, that money could be so much better spent.Maybe this guy will get a phone call.
After trade from Hurricanes and ELC with Flyers, can Rizzo push for call-up?
After being traded from the Hurricanes and signing his entry-level contract with the Flyers, can prospect Massimo Rizzo push for a call-up?www.yahoo.com
Why not dig in for as much cash as you can get ?. There’s 2 drivers for hockey players. Win a cup, make as much money as you can. He’s not winning a cup in Philadelphia, so that leaves #2 - make as much money as you can. If he lands at a contender, all the better.Exactly Crispy. If Konency wants to dig in and not budge with some reality-based brevity, than he should be sent to the buyer who will take his demand. Maybe that buyer will also take Risto's contract and send us back something. I know, I am dreaming but it is always fun to dream a little.
Couts at almost 8 million per season for 6 more years. For me that's the biggest anchor contract we have. If he doesn't come back to be a semi decent player that's 6 years of big money for a third line center.Along with this kid we have like 3 more potential impact players coming up the system. 50-1 seems to be the Flyers permanent odds. Sad to see some of the teams ahead of them.
IMO We should offer TK for 8 years 70 million and if that's not enough we would have to look at trading him to the highest bidder. Why would anyone sign with Philly, yet they do. True I didn't even think of him.Couts at almost 8 million per season for 6 more years. For me that's the biggest anchor contract we have. If he doesn't come back to be a semi decent player that's 6 years of big money for a third line center.
If you believe Briere/Jones are doing the right thing in trying to rebuild this franchise, then you cannot give him any ol' contract. If another team signs Konecny for 9.5 how does that help us?
Yet they do??? Who? Philly isn't a hockey destination. It's one of the worst franchises in the league and Konecny was stuck here.
No, the Couturier contract doesn't make us one of the worst franchises in the league. It's not even close to one of the reasons. Neither would a small "overpay" for Konecny, an actual top liner. If you believe Briere/Jones are doing the right thing in trying to rebuild this franchise, then you cannot give him any ol' contract.
Giving out those contracts is what is hamstringing them right now.
Isn't that why you consider them one of the worst run franchises???
If his camp thinks he's worth that much, so be it.
Trading him for .75 on the dollar isn't terrible.
We have been stockpiling picks for the next two drafts when a bunch of money comes off our books and frees us from Fletcher cap hell.
Potentially overpaying him at $10M when this team isn't ready yet just doesn't make sense if you believe they are rebuilding.
