He's our best player.

Have you forgotten that the Flyers can't draft for shit?

How are you going to replace konecny??

How many goals is your 10 million dollars going to score???
2 guys at $5,000,000 each will score more than 33 goals and 68 points. You really think he is worth $10,000,000 per year?

Not at all, he's a good player but not 10,000.000 great. I think as a real fan I'll stick with the team and what's working for a rebuild. Investing tons of money is what got us where we are now. We have a couple more scorers joining the team, I think if Konecny is stuck on 10 million we could do better.

Imaginary players don't score any points.

Why would Konecny sign here?

Why would anyone sign with Philly, yet they do. Everyone here loves TK, just not at $10,000,000. I don't think any team would sign him for that much as he is not a top 20 player. Top 50, yes, but not top 20.

If another team signs Konecny for 9.5 how does that help us?

Yet they do??? Who? Philly isn't a hockey destination. It's one of the worst franchises in the league and Konecny was stuck here.

Maybe this guy will get a phone call.

Along with this kid we have like 3 more potential impact players coming up the system. We need a solid defense to give our offensive players the chance to flourish. Someone has the room to take Konecny for 9.5-10 a year, he's a fool not to take it. Risto is the biggest anchor contract right now, that money could be so much better spent.

Exactly Crispy. If Konency wants to dig in and not budge with some reality-based brevity, than he should be sent to the buyer who will take his demand. Maybe that buyer will also take Risto's contract and send us back something. I know, I am dreaming but it is always fun to dream a little.

Why not dig in for as much cash as you can get ?. There’s 2 drivers for hockey players. Win a cup, make as much money as you can. He’s not winning a cup in Philadelphia, so that leaves #2 - make as much money as you can. If he lands at a contender, all the better.

Flyers’ Brass need to deal with that reality.

If our power play ever gets to be where it is actually decent, I bet Konecny would suddenly be top 20 in league scoring or very close. The dude had 9 power play points, which is absolutely pathetic, but also, not his fault. Remember, he led the league in shorthanded goal scoring. Not many star players even kill penalties, let alone score while killing them.

So, for him, the argument is that he'll be worth $10 million once our power play gets going and also once he's playing with some elite level talent like Michkov.

I don't think we're necessarily scared to give Konecny $10 million per, but it's the term length that needs to be under control. You don't just give him 6 or 8 seasons without flinching.

Couts at almost 8 million per season for 6 more years. For me that's the biggest anchor contract we have. If he doesn't come back to be a semi decent player that's 6 years of big money for a third line center.

IMO We should offer TK for 8 years 70 million and if that's not enough we would have to look at trading him to the highest bidder.

If you believe Briere/Jones are doing the right thing in trying to rebuild this franchise, then you cannot give him any ol' contract.
Giving out those contracts is what is hamstringing them right now.
Isn't that why you consider them one of the worst run franchises???

If his camp thinks he's worth that much, so be it.
Trading him for .75 on the dollar isn't terrible.

We have been stockpiling picks for the next two drafts when a bunch of money comes off our books and frees us from Fletcher cap hell.
Potentially overpaying him at $10M when this team isn't ready yet just doesn't make sense if you believe they are rebuilding.

The Athletic ranking each teams current and future goaltending outlook:

26. Philadelphia Flyers

Current: 28

Granger: Samuel Ersson started hot in his rookie season before fading down the stretch (along with the overall play in front of him). He’s only 24, but he’ll now be competing with newly-signed Ivan Fedotov, who comes over from the KHL with an impressive resume. His save percentage has hovered around .920 in his last three seasons in Russia, and while he didn’t play well in his first small taste of NHL action last year he should get a chance to prove he’s the guy in 2024-25.

Future: 11

Wheeler: Ersson, 24, is starting to cut his teeth in the NHL, and the Flyers have three goalie prospects of some consequence behind him. They’ve signed Belarusian Alexei Kolosov after parts of four strong seasons in the KHL and 2023 second-rounder Carson Bjarnason after two decent seasons in the WHL (he’ll be back with Brandon this year and while I’m lower on him than most, I do see the appeal). And 2023 third-rounder Yegor Zavragin will get signed if he continues to play for SKA next season like he did for Mamonty Yugry the last three seasons.

Cap: 19

McIndoe: The Fedotov deal is a bit of a weird one for an unproven player, although the Flyers did what they had to do under the circumstances. At $3.275 million, he could be a bust or a bargain or somewhere in between, but the deal lasts only two years, and we should know much more about the player by then. Ersson is cheap. Unfortunately, Cal Petersen is not; his $5 million AAV may be the worst for any goalie in the league right now, although it has only one year left and gets a little cheaper assuming it’s in the AHL.

Bottom line: This year is about shedding Peterson’s deal and seeing what they have in Ersson and Fedotov, which isn’t a bad plan at all.

No, the Couturier contract doesn't make us one of the worst franchises in the league. It's not even close to one of the reasons. Neither would a small "overpay" for Konecny, an actual top liner.

If you aren't going to pay your picks when you hit 1 out of 20, then fold the franchise.

The only thing you are going to get from free agents is overpaying them for what they did elsewhere with a much better roster than they'll have here. The plan I'm hearing from you guys sucks: keep sucking until there's money to spend and then spend it on some bastard that another team didn't want to keep. That's how the organization fucked up the franchise along with not drafting any meaningful core.
