Risto out tonight.

We haven't had our customary 10 game losing streak yet this season. Here it comes. Then we'll probably punish Chicago and start another losing streak. If it remains that bad, we could actually end up picking 3rd.

The two remaining games against Buffalo may actually decide whether we're 3rd or 4th in the draft lottery. The final game of the season is in Buffalo...Lol

Currently we have the 7th worst record in the league, only 3 points from picking 5th and 3 points from picking 9th.

We will have to start looking at mock drafts of players in that range.

McQueen has my vote in the 5-9 range right now. It would be really cool to be in a position to draft Schaefer, Misa, or Hagens, but I think that will take some lottery luck. Desnoyers and Frondell just seem like safe 2C's, but probably don't have dynamic 1C upside.

Im a huge Hagens fan after seeing him in the WJC but like you said that will take some luck.

Hey maybe well get a good ping ping ball and trade down one spot and miss out on a cant miss prospect like last year.

The reasoning they gave is what concerned me about that choice. They said they felt like they were too small on defense. Which is a totally reasonable position to take. They are small on defense. But at the draft, particularly in the 1st round, the goal should always be to get the best player available to you. Particularly if the decision is between premium position (C, D) players. You fix the size issue down the road. If you end up with 6 Quinn Hughes on your roster because that's always what was available at the draft, your defense is too small and you won't win. But you can get a hell of a lot back for trading 4-5 Quinn Hughes.

But, Luchanko has great speed. At least they picked someone with a game breaking trait. Maybe he develops into something good/great.

By all the experts accounts we could've traded way further back and still have gotten Luchanko. He does have great speed and we are certainly have a need for speed on our team but the pick in that spot is Buium and then start making moves from there.
