No need for a DFA with Garver coming up just needed to clear an active roster spot. Same is true for when Duran so who goes. Probably Leon who is on a vet contract but he can refuse the demotion and opt for FA

Miller is the only backup 1B. There are guys who could do so in an emergency, but he is the only real option unless they bring Huff up or acquire one. Until then we will have Miller.

He was activated off 60-day IL but was designated for rehab assignment.
Surprised that they’re talking rehab for Zelenskyy. He was only on the 10-day IL so is rehab needed

I highly doubt they would depend on Garver as a backup at 1B. If Garver could be considered as a viable backup at 1B, Miller would currently serve no purpose being on the team, and most likely would be gone and Bubba would have stayed

With Garver, Jank, Grossman and Smith available for DH and LF, Miller would be out of a job if they thought Garver was an adequate backup at 1B.

There is a reason Garver didn't do any of his rehab time at 1B.

Lowe played 150+ games last year and he will in all likelihood with 107 games left barring injury he will probably play between 102 to 105 of them at 1B. Are they going keep Miller around for those few games? If so who gets dump off the active roster so he can stay when Duran returns?

I think they will replace Miller with either Huff or someone they trade for at some point between now and late next month.

When Duran comes back they will have to send Leon packing.
