I think Goodell will hit Brady pretty hard, maybe the Pats also. The players association will win the appeal for Brady. The NFL will be able to quiet the fans somewhat since "they tried to levy a severe punishment"

That would certainly be a consideration. Brady getting suspended 2 games at the beginning would not be very imposing. 2 games in the later part of the year would be a tougher time to take the penalty.

when tom brady wouldn't hand over his texts he opened himself up more . mister vick is a prime example to look at the player assoc is going to take up for a cheater of every other team in the league . the integrity of football

Exactly right. Also covering up is not to be tolerated, that's what really going to bring the hammer down. Fess up from the get go and Brady gets a slap on the wrist, now he's screwed and the team is going to take a hit as well, because they've been backing him.

In the NFL a player can play till it's fully litigated, which includes court.
