Yes he was still with the Jags when he turned down the job, it would be a very interesting hire if Jack does take it...

Yes lane should get a little credit knowing sanctions were coming, the part I remember the most was Kiffins reaction has to how bad the sanctions were after they were handed down, he was a little shocked in some of his interviews with the media.

I think everyone was shocked at how bad they were. Based on previous precedent, USC was expecting about 1/2 of what we got!!

Things obviously didn't work out the way that anyone hoped, but I will always be willing to give him some credit for stepping in when no one else wanted to. It wasn't like he was sitting home waiting for somebody to hire him either. He left a good job at Tennessee to come be our HC and didn't wait to see what we would get hit with to do it.

USC WILL GET a terrific new HC and it won't be Sark, Riley or ANYBODY in the PAC already. Almost ANYBODY in the country would want this job, be patient Pat and do your homework. You can get anyone ya want.

TF...Good job on beating back the nay sayers this morning, it's easy to be an arm chair QB and alot harder to be an AD @ USC.

 When you are one of the extreme minority of fans who have actually defended Kiffin, you learn to fight back!!:laugh3:

I can't wait for Mamba's take on this!!

He wasn't a media darling like other head coaches, and to some point I don't blame him, media can crap all over you week in and week out.

This is going to be a very interesting hire, you still have to deal with lack of schollies, but now its damage control that needs to be also handled, the best part is recruiting needs to start right in there own backyard, and they need to get that back...

WH great analysis. UW is a bit scary to me still. This is the best they have looked in ages. I could see them upsetting Stanford, especially if the game was played on the lake. I think the game will be tight in the first half next week, but expect Stanford to win by about 14 on strong second half play and, as you said, wearing down the UW front.

The key is the last paragraph where I pointed out neither team has been tested. Funny things happen when teams who have been rolling and not tested finally face a challenge. Just ask Arizona. Not that I'm comparing the two as zona has real issues, but they had been blowing up bad teams and hit a wall yesterday.

In my mind from what I've seen UW is the more likely team to fade if they find adversity early. 3 of their 4 games they have come out very slow on offense in the first half. They ended those first halves with 10, 10, and 11 points. Ignore the Idaho State game. Price has had a tendency to tighten up and make more mistakes when they trail on the road and I'm not yet convinced he has grown past that.

The only path I see for a UW win in that game is for Stanford to sputter early and let UW hang within a TD until the second half. They will need help by the way of turnovers and/or poor execution by their offense.

WH, the other path is if Shaw tries to prove the run game is superior and is not willing to mix things up. He has a tendency to, at times, try to run it just to prove the team can run. As we saw last year against UW and the domers, if our QB does not check to a decent pass play, UW can just stack the box. I expect the game to be less than 7pts apart going into the half. Though, I wouldn't mind seeing Stanford up big. :)

Last year, it didn't hurt (or help depending on who's side you're on) that the quarterback you started the year with was pretty bad.

Looking at the schedule, the LSU/Florida game is the next most exciting game that week. I don't think that has anything to do with bias. Obviously if Washington and Oregon are undefeated that trumps it.

I thought maybe the RRSO, but eh probably not with the way Texas has been playing. Maybe if Texas really impresses and it seems like they are a new team.

I think if Washington doesn't win and they don't show up, it signals they are going to be showing up for Stanford vs Oregon.

Stanford Oregon is a Thursday night so wont matter

He was talking about ESPN collage gameday coming for the Oregon @ UW game, not the stanford game. His point is which other games are of interest for that same week. If UW loses to Stanford badly there are other options for two weeks from now. That's what he is saying.

true, but wasn't he interviewed when Pete left and they hired Kiffin over him?

USC tried for Del Rio before and he turned them down.

On January 11, 2010, Del Rio was offered the head coaching job at USC, his alma mater.[10] The next day he denied receiving an offer from USC, stating that the offer was "manufactured".[11] Later that afternoon, he rebuffed USC officially, announcing that he would remain with the Jaguars at least through the duration of his current contract.[12]

The only difference I see now is that he's with a team that has an outstanding shot at the superbowl. If USC gets him this time it won't be until after the NFL season.

Look son, your team spanked USC. Just enjoy it and stop whining about things that didn't have any effect on your game at all. Your defense was fine.

Are we really talking about a "son" here or the ultimate troll/disrupter?

They aren't losing all three. I hate the Doogs as much as anyone but they are decent this year.

The fact that they'll be way more tested than the Ducks scares me too. Wish we played a decent team and not Colorado this week

I dont think so. it read more like if CGD doesnt show up to Oregon UW due to UW losing to Stanford then they would show up for Stanford vs Oregon. but since that is a Thursday game they wouldnt.

That'd be hilarious. But again, easy out for Sark if he loses these next 3 games because he will probably be unemployed anyways come seasons end.

Actually he'll be 2-1 with the next three games and will get a nice contract extension, thus pissing the Duck faithful off even more.....

Sark would not be fired for losing 3 straight to ranked teams. Sorry to burst your fantasy, but it wouldn't happen and I'm 1000% positive about that.

He said he is 17 so we go with that. It would be consistent with his posts and posting style.

And lol at OcD hoping Sark gets taken by USC. If he is as bad as you always claim he is you should want him to stay at UW forever. Either you are admitting he is better than you have said or you are a total dunce. My guess is both are true.

Sark isn't going anywhere. His contract buyout would be something like 5.5 million at the end of 2013. Not going to happen.

Plus we now have the facilities to match any of the big dogs across the nation.

USC will pick a candidate whose got recent NFL experience. Because a big part of USC being able to land those mercenary recruiting classes of 4 and 5 stars from all over the country is that they're a pipeline to the NFL and run a pro style system.

Mora has been so successful with recruiting because of the same deal.
