I don't get the timing of firing him now.

Understood they want to get a jump on things, but still, who is going to run the ship for the rest of 2013? Given that it will take at least 2-3 more years to work through the impact of the scholarship limits, I'm not sure who these ego maniacs think is going to take the job and become another scapegoat?

I think it was boosters... Hayden had to do this, I was in shock what ASU did to them in the 2nd half last night, Kiffin had lost this team, his ego was not great and this will keep him from getting a serious D1 head job again....

Now it can cause us Dawg fans a serious side ache with Sark being mentioned as a replacement...

The timing is about recruits. I don't think we've had a recruiting class outside of the top 15 since before Pete Carroll. The 2014 recruiting class had 2 de-commits after the Washington St. game and currently isn't in the top 40!!

The next coach will be a Pat Haden hire (Kiffin was Mike Garrett's) and will have a fair chance to show what he can do. It looks like Jack Del Rio is the early favorite!!

I heard one of the LA beat writers mention Rio also, what would you think of that hire TF?
Granted it was a serious :wtf2: when Carroll was hired and that actually worked out, but Rio?

I think he would be a good hire. He's a Trojan, so he gets what that means and he's a name coach with NFL ties (which helps with recruits). Also, he kept some pretty bad Jacksonville teams somewhat competitive. They didn't win a lot because they had no talent, but they always played hard for him.

true, but wasn't he interviewed when Pete left and they hired Kiffin over him?

If memory serves, he turned USC down because he was the Jags head coach at the time. I believe that Kiffin was actually the 3rd choice after we were turned down by Sarkisian and Del Rio!!

Remember that this took place when we knew that sanctions were coming, so he may not have wanted to deal with that. Whoever the new coach is, only has to deal with 1 year of sanctions instead of 5. Makes for a much more palatable job.

Say what you want about Kiffin, but he had the balls to take the job even though there were sanctions coming!!

Sark to USC would be awesome. Maybe "awesomer"
This is what Colin Cowherd was saying on ESPN. As he put it, in a perfect world, he's a perfect fit!

As for this Bruins fan I'm sad.

Sad because I liked the direction he was taking the program. I thought he would be fired however I was hoping it would run through the end of the season.

Let's just be honest here, the Bruins could be on an upswing right now and a down USC probably helps more than a down UCLA helped push up USC.

Sark might choose to leave after mid October...If he loses to Stanford, Oregon and ASU as expected he will look to get out of there because he probably wont survive anyways in Seattle.

I also heard Mike Riley as a contender, which is a joke since Riley is proving to be too old for this gig.

Thankfully Chip still has about 17 more months of show cause, so I doubt USC even considers him.

I'd be surprised if Riley even gets contacted. He's been pretty clear that he is happy at Oregon St. and I doubt Haden wants the process to drag on for a long time.

:L We know your wish list, but your total obsession is just getting pathetic. Sark isn't going anywhere. We heard this with Neuheisel every job opening. Petersen is talked about every opening. These fan generated rumors NEVER actually happen.
UW I think will beat Stanford. Your d is for real good job spanking the pussies tonight btw. The rain bailed them out, Price couldn't throw early because of the rain, and Denker cant throw with or without rain. Good win.
UW has played a 'contain' defense the entire season. I'm not sure a prevent style defense is ultimately the best against the power run game. If you let Stanford get 3-5 yards a down in the name of preventing the long plays they will just wear you down.

Also Arizona was just bad this game on offense. Yes the weather really had an impact, but Denker was just flat out terrible. There were a few drops and lots of just bad passes from him to guys who would have been open and made some decent plays.

UW's offense was sound all day outside of the all out blitz that left Denker open for the run to the 1y line just before the end of the first half and the wheel route to Carey on their first drive of the second half. Both of those holes led to Arizona's only scores of the game. You will take that almost any game, but keep the effort in perspective with Denker's ineptness. Fun fact: Denker was not recruited by any Division I, II, or III school at QB and now is the starter for Arizona. :wtf2:

Stanford will be favored and for good reason. UW beat Stanford last season at home on a flat performance by a normally more stout offense led by a QB that didn't last the season. The prior 3 meetings between UW and Stanford ended: 65-21 on the farm in '11, 41-0 on the lake in '10, and 34-14 on the farm in '09. All bad losses by UW. Granted, this is the best team they have fielded in a decade, but recent history is not on their side vs the power run game. Stanford has had no problems defending the pro set offense over that same span and adding the uptempo won't likely change that too much as Stanford defends the uptempo better than anyone else in the conference.

Both teams are undefeated and neither team has been really tested. UW hasn't trailed at any point this season and no defense has caused Stanford to even have to make adjustments.

Yes he was still with the Jags when he turned down the job, it would be a very interesting hire if Jack does take it...

Yes lane should get a little credit knowing sanctions were coming, the part I remember the most was Kiffins reaction has to how bad the sanctions were after they were handed down, he was a little shocked in some of his interviews with the media.

Overall I am happy with the Stanford win. The O-line is not getting the drive I expected, but Shaw made the adjustments he needed to. The attack was truly balanced, and the D (aside from some bone head penalties) looked strong.

It is true I recruited another Stanford fan to the board. MartyUp, is like me a refugee from the ESPN boards.

Final though, Keyshawn is lobbying for Herm Edwards for Under Stanford Control's next coach. :)

USC WILL GET a terrific new HC and it won't be Sark, Riley or ANYBODY in the PAC already. Almost ANYBODY in the country would want this job, be patient Pat and do your homework. You can get anyone ya want.

TF...Good job on beating back the nay sayers this morning, it's easy to be an arm chair QB and alot harder to be an AD @ USC.

WH great analysis. UW is a bit scary to me still. This is the best they have looked in ages. I could see them upsetting Stanford, especially if the game was played on the lake. I think the game will be tight in the first half next week, but expect Stanford to win by about 14 on strong second half play and, as you said, wearing down the UW front.
