Man, chip's offense isn't looking so hot the last couple of week is it? Figured they would do better until Vic was hurt (inevitable).

That's the thing with Chips offense!! If that offense has an off-game, it can look really bad (like last night)!! When it's on though, it's virtually unstoppable!! I would expect that it would take a little longer to get rolling in the NFL than it did in college because you don't get the mismatches in talent in the NFLK like you do in college.

I don't recall teams winning "shootouts" with Oregon when Chip was there. When they lost, it was because they went against a defense that was able to take them out of their rhythm for a significant portion of the game!! During those portions of the game, that offense would look really bad!!

Couldn't care less about pro football, but I love to see Vick and Kelly as losers. What goes around comes around.

Different game entirely and all the players are doing it for money. Uncle Phil's money doesn't buy so much and players are drafted, not lured to the team by Texas street agents and fancy facilities, you can't get them all like UO did/does. Specialized needs of such a team would give the players unacceptable bargaining power. But what else does Chip know and what has Philly got to lose?

Big problem here is in college you often get 5 years to turn around a program and get your kids in to run your system fully. In the NFL some coaches are out after one bad season. Mora only lasted a year at Seattle. Will the fans and media in philly give Chip enough time to turn over that roster? If the eagles end up with 9 losses does Texas (and others) try to lure him away at the end of this season?

It all boils down to our current "what can you do for me today" generation. Team owners and school ADs as well as fans used to be more patient. Now a coach is fortunate if he's given a few seasons to turn a program around. There's only room for 1 team at the top, so finishing anywhere below is disappointing and somehow, not making the playoffs is now unacceptable. I quit rooting for the Oakland Raiders when Al Davis started firing every HC at the end of each season just because they weren't pulling off the miracle turn-around and getting them in the SB. They had a higher turn-over in coaching than in players.

I think it depends on the team, the owner and what the perceived level of talent is when a coach takes over.

In Philly, they had some pieces to work with on offense (Vick, McCoy, Jackson), but the defense is a sieve. I would expect that Chip will get at least 3 years (and maybe a new DC) before he ends up on the hot seat!!

Having said that, if the offense has too many games like last night, then the owner could decide that Chip's offense won't work and cut him loose sooner!!

As I mentioned, the owner has alot to do with it. Look how long Jerry Jones has kept that ginger as his coach!!

That's right. With all the zeros telling us over and over that nothing actually happened I guess some of us were getting brain washed there for a minute. :noidea:

In Kelly's offense or anyone elses... a QB who turns over the ball so often, few wins often follow.

Vick = Turnover machine

Actually, he can!! However, with the "show cause" a school would have to make a case to the NCAA as to why they are hiring a coach with "show cause", why they don't think there will be anymore violations if they hire him and what they intend to do to prevent it.

Also, the sanctions put on Oregon would follow him unless the school could show why the sanctions should not follow him.

Having said that, I don't think that any coach with a show cause on him has ever been hired before the end of the show cause!!

People always overreact to these things!! After the first game, Chip's offense was being hailed as the greatest offensive innovation since the forward pass!!

3 games in, people are starting to wonder how soon he'll be fired!!

Funny how Andy Reid continues to win wherever he goes, even if it's to a shitty club like the Chiefs.

BTW Mamba...Boys wekend @ PC went off...Great surf, great food on the barbie, good footbal, but the best was saved for last...the music jam sessions we had Fri nite and Sat nite were AWESOME. Great drummer, great lead-n-rhythm decent bass and EVERYONE had an instrument to play next to cuzin Reeder's world famous mai tais. Those damn cocktails lit the party on fire! Went to Chinook Winds Sat morn and it was over in less than an hour. Had to pull 2 Franklins from me wallet, but my buddy cashed out with +90 and I left with +130. Paid for the weekend so to speak. Had our oysters @ the Sportman Fri nite along with 3 pitchers of "Dead Guy Ale", best damn pan-fried sterz I have ever had from Netarts Bay. Yummy!

I understand it as Chip can coach after 18 months. After that point a school that wants to hire him must "show cause"

And TF12!! :noidea: WNBA?!?!?!?!?!?!:wtf2:
