I don't think Arizona huddled the whole game. We looked Oregon-esque.
Boise State didn't either. Almost 170 plays between both teams and UW's defense was for sure the one in better condition throughout the second half. Plenty of depth and good rotation. The biggest thing is they get to practice it every week going against our offense that is now running the pro set uptempo and didn't huddle once. That's going to be the question of that game: Who runs the uptempo better and which defense tires first.
The last decade has made me a pessimist!!!

Most people arent looking at our next game to be much of anything, but I'm here to tell you we better have our shit in order!!! Illinois is great at turning seasons around from shit to decent and they look to be doing it again this year.:gaah:
I'm not taking anything for granted, but I do expect a win next week. I'd probably bet against the spread if they give us anything over 20, but it's time for Sark to put things together on the road. They had the game plan fully installed before last friday's practice and have another week to nail down the consistency on it.

You gotta believe brother. I had full faith against BSU and I have it here as well. Can they lose? Sure, anyone can lose games they shouldn't. Still, i'm not going to get all negative until I'm given a solid reason to do so. Jump on the bus and take the ride with us man!

Agreed. We may of played lights out ball last week, but it's the road next Sat. We got to be able to repeat what we did. On the road. Losing to Illinois is flat out unacceptable.

Oh I'm on the bus, just not inside of it.

Winning on the road this next week is what it will take to get me fully on board and believe this team might finally be better than 7 wins.

The thing is everyone wrongly says we are all running the Oregon offense and nothing could be farther from the truth. Many teams around the country have picked up the uptempo style from them and I'm sure they have all taken notes on how to minimize the time between plays having watched them run it, but Oregon runs the zone read and is a heavy run first offense. UW is still running the pro set where they run to setup the pass. A defense that is good at stopping one is not necessarily going to be good at the other. UW will test your back 7 and Oregon will stress your front 7. Better have LB's and plenty of depth for either, but they are not the same.

From what I recall Arizona was a more passing offense with Scott at QB, but I admit I haven't really looked at what they are doing this year.

This year we are a heavy running team. We had less than 100 yards passing in each of the first 2 games. If anything will be our downfall it will be the inconsistency of the pass game. This team will definitely be carried (pun intended) by the run.

Worked so well for you in the Erickson era.

Our offense was embarrassingly bad in 2008 and 2009. It was good in 2010 when we switched to the no huddle, at least until we got to the red zone, and was above average in 2011.

And you ASU fans need to stop giving me thumbs down for no reason.

:noidea:

Agreed, but what edge they have is double the time to prepare for the game. Having the game plan already fully installed last week gives them an entire week to work on mistakes, penalties, and otherwise just getting a lot more sharp at it.

Does cincy run the uptempo, because if they don't i wouldn't bank on illinois to be able to withstand the speed over the second half.

Tennessee @ Oregon -23 1/2 my guess
They'll have that spread beat before the 2nd qtr and I'd think the spread should be -46 1/2 or higher. Tennessee still hasn't got a really good coaching staff yet to build up their team. I doubt Tennessee could beat the better FCS teams.

So in a 3 week time span UW will have to stop two of the conferences most dreaded uptempo running offenses. They better hope they don't have any serious injury to their main front 7.

I get why you would feature the run more now given a younger QB, but I wonder how it will look against defenses that have been working on the run heavy uptempo for years now. That will be a great game to see for both teams.

The Illinois D was gassed by midway through the 1st quarter against us.

What even my more Leary brothers also need to remember is we curb stomped Boise and didn't have our best offensive weapon for that game. WTF is illinois going to do with that uptempo offense with a bonafide 1500 y type rusher, all of the targets Price worked the ball to last week, AND the best TE in the conference, probably one of the top in the nation? That is going to be sick to watch.

They may not be as polished as others at running the uptempo, but whatever game they decide to fully click with it is going to end up with a video game type final score. The big play potential with all those passing mismatches will end up creating some crazy scores.

Agreed. We had a more balanced QB last year with Scott who could actually make deep passes. BJ Denker needs to work on his accuracy past 20 yards or so. Can't wait for conference games to begin. Contrary to early season disappointments I think the Pac 12 is a strong conference.
