I suspect the Huskies who were 25th, will get bounced out of the polls this week, even though we are 1-0. Winning by 1 @Hawaii won't keep us there. And we probably do deserve it considering the performance. Just hope we can recrack the top 25 by the start of PAC play. If we aren't ranked, going to be tough to justify CGD coming for the Stanford game.

I don't understand why teams not in the top 10 care that much about making it to the top 25.

Just win your games and enjoy the season while it lasts.



Oly, really man. Read your post above 4D20's that you say you are confused about. You asked me if I was really questioning your teams ability to cover and he said "well they didn't so there's your answer". I'm not sure how you are confused there?

I am enjoying the argument that you 'almost' did as some sort of proof that it was correct. I didn't exactly say I expected a 20pt win or something. Just thought 53 was a bit much to ask and was dead right on.

When networks are picking time slots and channels for game broadcasts. check.
Strength of conference. check.
Bowl selections. check.

If you(aka Oregon) could have played starters longer, and if you(aka Oregon) could have done that doesn't matter. There was a spread to cover, and you(aka Oregon) didn't. Do you think the people who made the odds expected you(aka Oregon) to play your(aka Oregon) 1st string in the entire game and based it off such?

Fans are what fuels the teams. Alabama is Alabama because fans and alumni demand it. It's who pays for tickets to the stadium, it's who pays for the locker rooms that bring in the best recruits, it's what pays for the training facilities to make them big and strong. It's what gives them more media attention which highlights the teams and helps bring in more recruits. It's why these teams get millions of dollars in media money.

Do you see directional state getting these huge money deals? Hell no. Why not? Because they got no fans. Why does the SEC get so much money on a TV deal and why does every cable provider in the country pick it up? Because so many fans for the teams.

Do you believe if Alabama suddenly had the fans of UC Davis it would be anywhere near a top program in the country? Not a chance.

No offense, but I find it to just be snobbish crap that people take offense to using "us" or "we". Yeah, I'll never take a snap at Alabama, and I'll never even play on the scout team. But the notion that I'm not part of the team and that I have no effect on my teams success is just simply false. Even on the team different people play different roles, but it all contributes.

TLDR: The players are what will make my team good this year. The fans are what makes the team good almost every year.

The people who make the lines don't care what a team does or doesn't do. They don't care who wins or loses bets. The only thing they care about is that the money is split near evenly. In other words, they care about how people bet - not on the actually outcome of the game.
