You know, an astute GM could have come in with an offer sheet for LaBanc around 4.2 shmill AAV and all it would have cost would have been a 2nd round pick. It's too bad that Bergevin didn't try this because then we could have referred to Kevin as LaBanc of Montreal.

I heard somewhere that LeBanc wasn’t contacted by any other teams before he signed. Assuming he was open to an offer sheet, a GM could have offered and forced San Jose to choose between him and other pieces on their roster. Could have put DWs testicles in a vice.

Ya and if you’re, say, a west coast rival of the Sharks who need to get younger up front and just bought out one of your only legit (if badly beaten up) scorers and could benefit from the Sharks being a little more hamstrung cap-wise WHY NOT GIVE IT A SHOT MURRAY YOU USELESS HAM? Go hire Randy again why dontcha.

All the best to Cullen in retirement. He had a pretty good run as a bottom 6 player.

Matt Cullen Announces Retirement

The man from St Cloud State calls it quits.

Next stop, the Hall of Fame? Normally, you would think not a chance, but Guy Carbonneau just got inducted and Cullen had almost 70 more career points and they each won the Stanley Cup three times. Carbonneau does have those three Selke trophies in his trophy case, though.

Yeah, they would probably let Cullen in, you know with his 731 points in 1500 games.......while probably leaving some random player with 1200 points (over 400 goals) in 1370 games out.....

Off to hockeydb.com to look up Damphousse's stats. . .

(One minute later)

Thought so.

Interesting side note. In Damphousse's age 22 year, he racked up 94 points for the Leafs.

Marner racked up 94 points in his age 22 season.

And some bum named Gretzky had 196 in his age 22 season.

Just sayin

So Marner will be a San Jose Shark one day?
