How much more do the Knicks need to win the east, let alone a title
There is absolutely no reason to trade him especially when you have Ja. I mean if you trade JJJ, you trade Ja too and do a complete rebuild and that isn't happening. Those two are safeThe Wolves rumor mill always talked about pairing those two together too. Their weaknesses and strengths in theory really would work well together.
JJJ would have a TON of suitors if Memphis does indeed make him available. It would be crazy what he could get. But that is also why Memphis likely wont trade him. They cant possibly get full value for him. A really, really good defensive PF who can shoot the 3 and score efficiently who is only 25 years old.
What are you really trying to do though if you trade a high level 25 year old? You are basically saying that you wish to be fired as GM because you are an idiot and cant build around one of the best building blocks in the league.
The whole reason Bane was traded was to make it easier to resign Jackson
Or they saw the 4 1st’s, a swap and a young player and said…lets get off this contract of almost $40M per year and hopefully we can find a player(s) in the next couple drafts that can replace him. Bane is a fine player…but $40M a year and 4 1st’s for him is crazy. The whole reason Bane was traded was to make it easier to resign Jackson
Not surprised
Cade signed a mini-max that takes effect this season. His making all nba gives him a nice bump (not good for the team)Realistically there should be only be around 10 guys making supermax but unfortunately that will never happen.
Right now (through 24-25 season) below are the supermax players and currently in a supermax contract. Does not include guys like Russ who did previously.
- Jaylen Brown He signed a five-year supermax contract in 2023.
- Nikola Jokic Signed a five-year supermax deal in 2022.
- Devin Booker Signed a four-year supermax extension in 2022.
- Karl-Anthony Towns Signed a four-year supermax extension in 2022.
- Stephen Curry Signed a four-year supermax deal in 2021.
- Joel Embiid Signed a four-year supermax contract in 2021.
- Bradley Beal Signed a five-year supermax deal in 2022.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo Signed a five-year supermax deal in 2020.
- Luka Dončić Signed a five-year supermax deal in 2021.
- Damian Lillard Signed a four-year supermax deal in 2019.
- Rudy Gobert Signed a five-year supermax extension in 2020.
- Jamal Murray - signed in 2024

He’s a young guy and is still coming on. He is a starter in this league.Depends on what you consider real.
He is solid but he is not a starter. You saw him mostly playing well against your Thunder. I stated before the series that he actually made our roster and rotation basically in the play-in game a few years back guarding Shai. That was the moment you knew he would be written in pen into the 2nd or 3rd guy off the bench the following season. He doesnt play as well against other teams as he does against your Thunder.
Anyone who signs him and plans to play him over 30 minutes a game is going to be pretty disappointed IMO.
.....
And history did repeat itself in our series with you.
Terrance Shannon Jr went from being viewed as a 9th or 10th guy (a guy who probably wont get a lot minutes without injuries) to a guy that should be figured in as a 7th or 8th guy and you plan to play at least 15 minutes every night. All because of how he played in the series against you.
Depends on what future assets you are giving up. Randle played about is good as you can play for what he brings to the floor IMO but the fact is he is still inconsistent. He scored 6 and 5 in two games vs OKC.I like Durant. But I dont think he was going to be enough to change things with us even if we didnt have to give up a ton of assets. Julius played lights out in the playoffs this year. Would Durant play so much better than that to be enough to change the outcome moving forward? I dont see it.
I would rather them keep Dillingham, Shannon and their 1st round pick this year (plus their 1st pick in the 2nd round) and try and build that way. Basically run it back more or less with more youth on the bench and a little more youth in the lineup. Dillingham, Shannon and Clark should all be regulars next year instead of only playing when someone gets hurt.
Miami would probably the worst possible place for Ja Morant to play. That's about the last city you want someone with let's say questionable decision making
