WTF is he saying? That Analytics made someone be stupid enough to give Tanev 6 years? Or the critics using analytics to show what a bad deal it is don't know anything because "eye test"?

Has anyone said Tanev isn't an NHL hockey player? Or that he's bad at his role?

Almost all the criticism I've seen is solely predicated on the length of the deal which has nothing to do with the player himself and everything to do with a GM who's quickly lost the plot and been giving out bad deal after bad deal. That has literally nothing to do with analytics.

Find another player right now who's optimal peak performance rate is that of a third liner who's signed to a 6 year contract. The only other guy who comes to mind for me is Abdelkader, which, yikes (although I'm sure cueball would defend that one too lol).

That doesn’t make sense to me. If it were strictly about dollars, he would have saved way more than 600k in taxes in Florida.
