Nice start for Dak and for Milton too. Most important hope Jones is OK.

Cowboys Minicamp Day 1 Notes:-
WR George Pickens hauled in five receptions during the team period on a variety of routes. One comeback route completion against Mukuamu was the standout.

- Overall, a strong day for QB Dak Prescott. He went 17-for-19 passing in team periods and completed more balls along the sideline than we’ve seen today.

- Joe Milton went 8-for-8, including three receptions to WR Jalen Cropper who continues to find ways to get open in the offseason setting.

- OL Rob Jones left practice early with a clear grimace on his face.

- Another PBU registered for CB Kaiir Elam today. DBs can’t be super physical in these settings, but he still finds way to get his hands on the ball.

- More reps with the ones for TE Brevyn Spann-Ford. He’s been one of the consistent standouts in media availabilities.

Injuries have the defense behind the 8 ball. Overshown, Diggs and Revel....that's a LOT of firepower laid up to start the season. And it's a lot to ask them to hit the ground running day one. We still have some really good pieces, we are just in the boat of really needing some young corners ro step up, and needing Mazi and a 7th rounder to somehow be competitive at NT

Plus no pads. I'm not worried about anything but injuries in June

Some thoughts from the second #Cowboys minicamp practice:

- Another day, another Kaiir Elam PBU. It should’ve been an interception but he couldn’t bring it in. - Solid day from Dak Prescott. In an end of half situation where the offense had 1:15 left on the clock trailing by 8, Prescott completed 6 of his 8 passing attempts with the drive capped off by a touchdown pass to Jake Ferguson in the seam with coverage draped over him. Also converted the 2 point conversion on a rollout pass to Miles Sanders.

- Micah Parsons participated in some individual drills, but wasn’t a part of the team periods.

- There’s still heavy rotation at corner. DaRon Bland, Israel Mukuamu, and Kaiir Elam all took reps on the outside with Bland, Kemon Hall and Juanyeh Thomas taking reps in the slot during first team activities.

- The Joe Milton experience was back today, with a couple errant throws and taking some time to decide on a target, but some ropes to with one on the move to Ryan Flournoy and another to Mingo in the corner of the endzone for a touchdown.

- Donovan Ezeiruaku is starting to stand out more. His bend is on full display and he’s getting to the backfield.

- Speaking of getting to the backfield, Marist Liufau got to the quarterback a few teams in 11 on 11.

- Offense was a step ahead again today (no physicality or pass rush really hurts DBs)

- Fun day from Jake Ferguson. Multiple grabs including a few TDs in redzone work

- Efficient and accurate day from Dak. By my charts, he went 9-11 with 3 TDs in team drills. Then orchestrated a 2-minute drill where he went 6-8 for 70 yards and TD in less than 1:15

- Lamb was the most active WR in all aspects today

- Saw some pressure from Fowler, Liufau on a few plays

- Another PBU from Elam. Feels like a once-per-practice guarantee at this point

I'd be surprised if he is back by week 1, but good to see he is shooting for it.

That last line makes one giddy...
